Yesterday, the BBC confirmed that all 4 coaches will be returning to the show next year.
Blind Auditions filming starts next month on 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th and 19th of December at Media City, Salford.

Looks like they've uprooted from TV Centre which was used for series 1.

Out of interest, where did you get those dates from? Looking to get tickets to watch blind auditions...

I thought they would have had a clearout and shake up after how the ratings went at the end of the first series, although given how the figures were at the start, it suggests that its format issues.

The American series has implemented a few changes which I imagine the UK will follow. There is a knockout stage after the battle rounds, its more or less the same but they sing in pairs but on their own. And coaches can steal an eliminated act from another team. Interested to see what the BBC do.

In terms of the format changes for the US series - I don't think the BBC will use all the ideas as it can be a rather confusing format.

I think they will implement the steal aspect, but it's the Live Shows which are an issue, there is nothing different about The X Factor and The Voice live shows which is a shame.

The question is ... what was it that caused it to be a relative flop? It doesn't really matter what the Americans changed - they need to make changes to the UK version that will make it more popular here.

Good to hear they will be using one of the HQ studios up here - do we presume they will film the later stages at Elstree again though? (this has already been speculated in another thread)

Thanks for the link. I read that producers were keen to make much more of the battle rounds and consequently fewer live shows - the latter was when the ratings were at the their lowest, the former when it was really exciting and when a greater amount of people tuned in. Live shows didn't work in that we saw one contestant every two weeks for the first few weeks and the connection of an act with audiences was weakened as a consequence.

I think the producers have learnt lots from last year and I think the show can only get better.

I suspect they'll use Elstree, but it would be a greater vote of confidence for Salford if MediaCityUK could be home to the show for the season. There could be difficulties getting singing guests and will judges + presenters want to travel to Salford every week? Depends how radical they want to be...

EDIT: From SRO Audiences website.

In February, we shall be recording the battle rounds at Fountain Studios in Wembley.

They were wanting to use less live shows this year because that's where it all fell apart, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the knockout round or at least have two battle rounds (for example each coach takes 12 from the blinds, 6 through the first battle, 3 through the second battle then into the live shows).

I'd say the live shows were where it went wrong but some of it could be put down to dodgy scheduling. I'm sure some of the live shows went out at about 6pm on a hot summers Saturday. They should've tried to get it on air by January instead because they could potentially run straight into the same problem.

The live shows were very rushed and there wasn't really time to get to know the acts or see them develop. They lost far too many acts each week too, which didn't help with it feeling rushed. Some of them issues are even present on X Factor and that drags on for 10 weeks losing one a week (although it does fly by).

I do wish that ITV got the rights to the format instead, it seems like a natural evolution of the X Factor format (which in itself is flagging) and they tend to do big scale productions like this much better (speaking on the whole).

I hope that they do a bit more winner promotion this series. Poor Leanne didn't even have a winning performance or any information as to where her download was avaliable from.

That is like saying that Manchester never has any concerts whatsoever and that the Manchester Arena is not one of the busiest Arena's in Europe due to all the concerts it holds!!!

ToTP managed to get guests coming to the Manchester area for its award shows, and when it originally came from a converted Church when it first started, and the MTV EMA when it came from Liverpool got the artists from around the world!

I think its about time we laid to rest the notion that people will not travel to Manchester to appear on TV shows - they have done in the past, the currently do, and they will do in the future!

Not counting the fact that about half the BBC Breakfast presenters travel to present the show, also quite a few of the cast of Corrie and Emmerdale actually live in London and commute! It happens!

I've lived in the North West all my life and still do now, so I do know all about Manchester, and I'm beyond happy that Breakfast and alike are getting great guests up here for MediaCityUK. I don't need a lecture about the total myth of people not wanting to travel to the North West - I've heard it thousands of times before. I'm a major advocate of programmes being made outside London, especially when it's on my own patch.

I was just overly skeptical that the coaches might complain because, well, some of them appear to be divas. To me, I think the BBC should soon think about moving another large show/series to really underline the success of MediaCityUK in the few years of its existence already.
