I can't believe that they rejected Kerry Ellis though who is a big West End star! And I thought this was meant to be a competition based on singing ability. Are they all tone deaf to reject her?
Can't believe she wanted to audition for it. Think the talent tonight has been rather mediocre actually and the Blind Audition concept has actually been shown to be more of a flaw than an asset at stages tonight. They keep repeating the same clips of the judges too.
There's something a bit flat about the show. Something a bit disjointed.
It could be because we're used to seeing the auditions 'on the road' and seeing the judges arrive and the people queuing outside the venues on X Factor, whereas this show is doing its auditions in the glossy studio format, and yet because it's pre-recorded... I don't know, it feels a bit cold. There's no sense of when the auditions happened, or where. Even though we know it's TV Centre...
I think it would really have benefitted from outdoor wide shots of TV Centre with contestants queuing outside, to give it a sense of perspective and location.
It could also be that we hardly ever see the presenters, and a majority of the show is just clips with voiceover.
I think it's just stylistically the same as the X Factor live shows (especially last week's opening where they all sang together) and yet it's so obviously not live... it jarrs.
Also, I know the X Factor is one of the worst shows there is for repeating the same clips over and over, but the opening 4 minutes of The Voice were tedious viewing today. I feel like I've seen those clips of the judges hundreds of times already, and having them explain that the judges can't see the auditionees AGAIN was total overkill.
I'm really sorry but the show is completely flawed from the start!
If the show is REALLY about 'The Voice', then surely us, as viewers, shouldn't see what they look like at all? Surely they should be performing behind a screen, so that we only see their silhouette?
But the viewers aren't making the decision about who goes through so it's irrelevant if we see them or not

Why? The sequences we're seeing aren't open auditions so where they are taking place is irrelevant.
The singers have been pre-vetted and then invited onto the show, they're not queueing anywhere

No, that's not TV Centre. From what I've heard, the shots of the singers and their family walking through the garden into the building are in Salford, so I assume the rest was filmed there too
What's this about the families in the room watching, being in Northern Ireland then?

The garden is behind The Media Centre in W12 Media Village, with the interviews happening in the area normally used as a cafe on the ground floor of The Media Centre. (The garden used to appear in the back of shot on the last office-based series of Watchdog)

The performance auditions are in a TVC Studio.
A friend of mine who worked on the show confirmed that it is all filmed on the same day, none of it was done in Salford or Belfast. I had a feeling the garden bit was down at the Media Centre but couldn't place which doors they were entering.
Just goes to show you how versatile the W12 complex is, I didn't recognise some parts of it - all it took was a bit of cladding! "Not fit for the digital era", eh Tommo?

The revolving doors they go through are at the back of the building (directly opposite to the main doors at the front), and aren't visible from the outside world because they open onto a walled garden at the back of the Media Centre, between the MC and the periphery buildings that back onto Dorando Close.
The cafe area normally used by BBC staff for coffee and meetings, on the ground floor of the Media Centre, was taken out of action for the duration of the auditions as it was converted into an interview area used for the pre-performance auditions.
Not sure, but I think the holding area where the family/friends watch auditions is in a green room near South Hall that used to be used by Top of the Pops. (The painted brick walls suggest this is a likely location)
Whether in the same building or not and whether filmed as the audition happens or not they do feel very much like they've been inserted afterwards. I've never really questioned it with The X Factor.
Ahhh, I stand corrected, sorry. I didn't recognise any of the locations so assumed it was Salford, also I think I got 'Media Centre' and 'Media City' mixed up!
The revolving doors covered with stuck on logos doesn't look great

Think they've been quite clever in finding a location that looks different to the usual suspects in W12.
