The right person won but it just goes to show how flawed the concept of the show is. Brilliant voice but Leanne doesn't have 'it' to be a successful recording artist. I'm sure she'll be huge in musical theatre though.

It's really too early to say yet to be fair to Leanne. Like Tom says, it depends also on her direction and her music. Don't be so quick to judge.

I do agree but she isn't really anything we haven't seen before. I'd like to see her have success but I think they'll just rush an album out and she'll just become a younger version of Tesco Mary. With Bo, Tyler & Vince you could see what kind of artist they'd be come, but it's The Voice so they didn't deserve to win on that merit.

Admittedly, there's nothing to say that Bo, Vince or Tyler won't become more successful than Leanne - just look at what has happened with the success of many of X Factor's runners-up compared to the winner.

Incredibly rushed ending, the winner doesn't get to perform again and we don't get to find out who came 2nd & 3rd. After over 2 hours on air it seemed to be over within about 30 seconds of them announcing the winner.

Yes, that's a very valid observation. A real shame actually that they didn't do either.

Did they actually mention at any point that there's supposed to be a winner's single released either today or tomorrow? I'm sure I read that somewhere. Certainly can't see it charting very well.

Reggie said it when speaking to them backstage. They have literally released 'Run to You', and not even a studio version, its just a straight copy of what she performed (link here). Shes at number 25 on iTunes.

Should just mention last night's viewing figures for The Voice, from broadcast Now.

Quote:
The Voice UK: the Final (BBC1) 7.20pm-9.20pm
7.14m (34.2%)

A peak audience of 8.74m.

It is good news and quite relieving actually, given the very noticeable drop in the last few weeks. Very respectable indeed.

*Wants to hurry people at Digital Spy up*

That's not too bad, considering the dip and the fact that it's the first series. T'is a shame really that the ratings were such a rollercoaster ride - the live shows definitely did get better. Not going to be an X Factor killer, clearly.

The second series can only improve.

Overall, a solid foundation, and I think looking back at last night and the figures that they have redeemed themselves from the major blips of the live shows. It was a marked improvement on previous weeks. Like it has been said above, I feel the ending could have been handled better to give Leanne more airtime.

I have every confidence that the programme will come back bigger and stronger next year. I don't really feel they need to change anything apart from the live show format. There's no reason for the coaches to be axed, only if they decide to go. I do feel that the programme's success/failure has been overly exaggerated - it was pleasing to see last night's figures and the initial stages were excellent, but I think there will be concensus in the fact that the rollercoaster figures that the series has seen has shown the huge lack of consistency within the format.

I loved how it started, but I didn't much care for the singers in the end.

I don't think that's the fault of the show per se, it's more a reflection of my taste. I just don't like warbling.I also thought Jessie went a bit, well, frosty.

Next year I'll look and see if I'm into the finalists more.

And to anyone who thinks I'm giving this more time than a Cowell show simply because I don't like Cowell - quite right, you're very astute.

Have a lollipop.
