Glad they've chopped down the OTT titles seen in other countries, though.
The full version of the titles is OTT, no doubt about that, but I think the UK version has the wrong bit chopped off. I think they could have retained the nice electric guitar riff at the start and cut out some of the later repetitive bit (hope that makes sense). It's all going to be pretty cheesy no matter what you do, but The X Factor has some pretty tacky titles too in fairness.
It's a shame, I rather like The Voice's titles - they're a bit cheesy but it suits an entertainment show like this. It doesn't help that they've chopped them down in the most horrible way - the edit at the start isn't even on beat. I know the titles aren't everything but watching the opening of the show doesn't create any sense of occasion - which would match up with similar criticisms of the show that the live shows were lacking that little something.
Maybe they should bring Patrick Kielty and Richard Park in.
Much better production values on tonights show. They've managed to iron the creases out fairly quickly but they still need some kind of bed to limit the flat parts of the show, one obvious example being when the acts are waiting to perform and leaving the stage.
The coaches need a clearer direction too. Their comments are allover the place and I don't always get the impression they're convinced about what they're actually saying. There doesn't seem to be any structure either and its more like a discussion which doesn't work. X Factor has it spot on going from left to right and finally to the mentor. The Voice needs to adopt something similar.
There's a marked improvement definitely. Your observations and suggestions above are spot-on. I'm just so impressed every week as to how amazing these coaches are. The choice of all four is just bang on the money.
I really agree with the use of music. There are some really nice underscores in the music package. Definitely needed to create a stronger brand image, as well as the titles. The music is played so quietly, they need to boost it so the vocal endings can be heard more clearly and loudly.
Also worth saying that tickets for The Voice UK Live Tour went on sale yesterday. It will be interesting to see the set-up of this, as well as the set.
And yes, the Olympic Torch Relay advert to finish!!

They need to be careful though. Tonight the judges felt quite spontaneous - BGT and The X Factor judges always feel scripted to within an inch of their lives.

There is structure as they begin with the mentor then from left to right from that point. I absolutely agree with you though about the judges not being convinced about what they're saying - even when they criticise (and some acts need a heck of a lot more criticism) they back track, making them just seem a bit wishy washy. It may be brutal but The X Factor and BGT have honesty in their critique and frankly judges on such shows are there more to reflect the views of people at home rather than to guide the viewers how to vote. Therefore when they're singing the praises of an act that appeared awful to viewers at home it just doesn't work.
Anyone smell a bit of a rat on Britain's Got Talent last night when Ryan O'Shaughnessy was 'thrown out' of the competition because he was contracted to 'another show' (The Voice Ireland)? To me it felt like a dig at the BBC's success of The Voice and some kind of revenge by Simon Cowell. It would appear from some websites today that he has been released from the Irish show and will therefore appear on BGT anyway:

I thought they handled it rather well actually, even if they were quite obvious in their attempts to avoid naming the show. It's been well publicised though so they were right not to ignore it, and Simon spelt it out exactly as it was as if the boot was on the other foot I doubt he'd be releasing his contestants from a contract to appear on a rival show.
Back to ratings and Britain's Got Talent pulled nearly 2m clear of The Voice last night, with The Voice having 8.16m (peak 9.1m) and BGT having 9.82m (peak 11m), rising to 10.14m (peak 11.5m) with ITV1+1 included.
So they've at least made them get changed this week. Some or all of the post-performance interviews though with the acts must surely have been filmed after the results show as I can't see them having the time to do such things in the short period between the live show and results show being recorded.
The judges dancing to their own acts group performances was embarrasing though and still think it is wrong to reveal the top three then leave the reveal until the end of the show - would be better to do one group mid show then the others at the end. Will really needs to be fired now - he was great in the early auditions but just doesn't cut it live.
