Surely, the +1 figures should be included as some people are probably watching The Voice on BBC One at 7pm, then Britain's got talent on ITV1+1 at 9pm?

I think the comparison is unfair because BBC One doesn't have a time-shifted channel (and probably never will) so you're not comparing like-with-like.

Actually, I see it as only fair to include +1 ratings. +1 ratings aren't necessarily an advantage as it could be argued that there are less people timeshifting the core channel because of their existance.

The BBC overnight ratings will include anyone that timeshifted The Voice on BBC One, and so a +1 channel is just another kind of timeshift, albeit it on a linear channel. So for me - it's right to lump them in.

Re: The Voice. I do like the show but I agree with Brekkie, the 80 minutes really drag. Reading today about how many of these acts have had Universal deals in the past and are on the show by invite. A lot is being made about it being a 'pure' talent show, but it seems as contrived as all the others really.

And actually yes, I do miss the crazies.

And I'd argue those watching The Voice and then BGT on +1 are bigger BGT fans than those who are prepared to miss the first 10 mins. I don't see how you can not include the +1 figure, watching its watching it.

So, ITV are moving BGT into a later slot to avoid the clash.

I guess we'll see if it does better, as suggested in this thread.

BGT will definitely see a benefit as will The Voice.

Here's the audience breakdown for The Voice.

19:00 7.167
19:05 7.9
19:10 8.44
19:15 8.92
19:20 9.17
19:25 9.51
19:30 9.82
19:35 10.00
19:40 10.18
19:45 10.41
19:50 10.56
19:55 10.68
20:00 10.22
20:05 9.89
20:10 9.89
20:15 9.90

At 8pm when BGT starts The Voice loses viewers. The Voice probably would have peaked at 11m otherwise.

Now here is BGT's audience breakdown

20:00 4.532
20:05 6.954
20:10 6.471
20:15 6.761
20:20 10.436
20:25 10.813
20:30 8.671
20:35 10.786
20:40 11.009
20:45 9.512
20:50 9.961
20:55 11.281
21:00 8.963
21:05 10.089
21:10 10.296

Look how low BGT starts at 8pm when up against The Voice but how the rating jumps at 8.20pm when The Voice finishes.

The Voice now ahead including +1. Simon Cowell will be as devastated as Danny Cohen is ecstatic.

Just read this! Show deserves it, last night was a cracker!

Will be interesting how the 'Battle Rounds' are done. Would like to see more of Holly and Reggie.

Yes, a good one last night. The last few auditions where there were only 1 or 2 slots left was a great, if frustrating watch.

Consolidated viewing figures will be interesting...
It was the only episode I watched all the way through and I am annoyed to say (due to my hatred of talent shows, particularly the X Factor) I enjoyed it. Last few people.... and ITV thought last year's X Factor ratings drop was bad.

Britain's Got Talent usually adds more in consolidated ratings and pulls ahead. But for The Voice to beat it in overnights including +1 is a huge achievement. BGT doesn't usually lose in overnights and, bar Eurovision, you'd have to go back several years to when the show started I think to find the last time BGT wasn't number 1 for the night.

So what are we thinking of The Battles then?

The first was very painful IMO and both should have gone, but the 2nd and 3rd were better - though both with the wrong result IMO. The main thing though is the production - we know it's pre-recorded but it's cut and paste to shreds and Reggie and Holly are presenting it with as little personality as possible. We're lacking that honesty from the judges too.
