VIVA To Close & Be Replaced With MTV OMG?

Viva has been removed from freesat today. Looks like MTV Love/OMG will not be free to air afterall.

I expect Viva to be removed from freeview too then. What will replace it on EPG 57? Surely Viacom wont want to lose a 'good...ish' channel number. They currently have a nice epg block from Ch54-57.

I think Viva timeshares with 5USA+1 so they’ll probably just extend that and keep 57 by launching some dreadful 2 hour channel like My5+1 so they don’t lose the space.

As expected 5USA+1 has taken over the broadcasting hours of Viva, and now onair during the daytime.

Looks like http://uk.viva.tv also redirects to the Official Chart page of the MTV website now too.

On Virgin, Viva on channel 317 is showing a ceased broadcasting slate and MTV Love has appeared on channel 318 (previously unused as there's a gap after that until 330).

I don't think it's very surprising that it's been closed down. Its branding has been virtually unchanged since it launched over eight years ago.

I'll have a look tonight but my Sky Q app is showing MTV Love on Channel 353 and no sign of VIVA so looks like it's gone from Sky also.

The logo is pink (the whole thing, not just the portion at the bottom as with the other MTV branded channels).

I think all the MTV channels have their full logo in their own colour now, rather than the MTV logo remaining white like it used to be.

I’m surprised VIVA lasted that long. Sad that it’s gone, as I used to enjoy recording episodes of South Park (when they showed it)

Yes, you're correct.

I was looking at the logos in the app which are the old logos and I forgot all about the changes on-screen - disregard the last bit then.

It is pretty unprofessional of Sky to still be using the old logos for the other channels.
