According to the Freeview Website, Virgin Radio launches tomorrow on Ch 727. I've rescanned my box but its nowhere to be seen - anyone else got the channel yet?

What do people think of VR anyway?

They need to buy more CDs.

Why?

Because I swear they only have a few because of the amount of times they repeat the tracks on the station. They might be playing "the music we all love" but if you're stuck somewhere where you can't change the station and the radio is on all day, it quickly turns into the "music we all hate because you play it to death day in day out". And some of the stuff they play is not even "rock" by any means - James Blunt, KT Tunstall ... ?

One of Virgin's spin off stations such as Virgin Classic Rock or Groove would be a better addition to Freeview than Virgin Radio, which brings nothing different to the radio line-up.

Bloody annoying it's not been put on the EPG when Film4 was introduced today!

My Freeview box already had a near death experience just for Film4, and now it'll be forced to rescan again in a couple of days!

Surely they could put the stations on to the EPG at the same time!

Does anyone know which multiplex it'll be on?

Multiplex C - 128kbits/s stereo during the day and 96kbits/s mono overnight

I think I might stick to medium wave for better quality. Wink

The audio quality is awful, plus there is no EPG and highlights of programming are on the MHEG.

Too right about the audio quality. It's sh!te compared to good old stereo FM but I am aware that this is an "improvement" on AM which most of the country can receive Virgin on. If this is what every station on DAB sounds like (after all they use 128kbits MPEGII), then please pass me the sick bucket. Why do people buy into such rubbIsh? Is the nation completely cloth eared or what?!

About the reptition. Guess what came on just now? Van Bloody Morrison and Brown Eyed Girl. Rolling Eyes

Got it now - bloody annoying having to retune two days running to get it though. They could have added it yesterday!

Not as good as when Jon Holmes was on there Wink bet he's gutted that his record fine from Ofcom (or whoever was the regulator in 2001/2) has been topped by Kiss

You lot must be very discerning. VR on my Phillips On Digital Box sounds lovely and clear, unlike SmashHits or Kiss, both of which sound like badly encoded MP3s.
