I am expecting a request from LG-VM to use BT's Infinity Network to offer services out of cabled areas as a direct competitor to YouView. Expect an Ofcom rumble or two in the works soon.

Can you clarify what, exactly, you're expecting?

Nobody can sell BT's Infinity product but BT (retail).

Anybody has a right to sell services on the Copper/Fibre-to-the-Cabinet/Fibre-to-the-Premises infrastructure managed by BT Openreach (between the exchange and the Premises) or resell services from BT Wholesale (as Virgin Media do already).

The resale conditions are as you state so far, there's growing resentment amongst ISPs that BT's investment in Infinity has been assisted by 'State Aid'. I'm expecting this to come to a head sooner rather than later, with Ofcom having to set up Wholesale rates for third party access to Infinity being the result. One or more ISP will almost certainly decide on a Court trial to test this assumption. A reinvigorated LG owned VM would seem to be an ideal candidate to take on this 'test' role.

I would expect Ofcom / BT to eventually lose the case especially when it gets to Europe.

But Openreach/Wholesale already allow access to the FTTC network - Sky for example offer a Fibre product which uses the same Infrastructure as Infinity as far as the exchange?

May I cordially suggest that use of the term 'LG' in this regard leads to ambiguity with the manufacturer 'Lucky Goldstar'.
