Wow - for the main presenter mid-shot - that set really doesn't deliver much does it?

Even if just the one ident far better than anything the BBC have had in the last couple of years.

I'm going to have to disagree on that, we would instantly savage this. It feels like a knock off cable channel.

No change to the 6 O'Clock Show, bar that ridiculous DOG covering up part of Martin King's forehead.

VM News at 8. Some subtle changes here including the use of a ticker and the sports presenter using the main video wall instead of the area in the newsroom.

The News at 10:00, which has moved to Virgin Media Two, is now the “Late News”. Thanks to RTÉ doing away with its RTE2 late bulletin (and RTE1 “bedtime” summary) it’s now the latest news bulletin on Irish television.
London Lite and DE88 gave kudos

RTE Late News now only airs after The Late Late Show on Fridays at 11.45pm for ten minutes. God knows why RTE have kept this bulletin, and it will return from its summer break next Friday. Pathetic.

Not a big fan of the new news titles and the theme music. The titles do look like something from a generic graphics package VideoHive (not necessarily a bad thing, but it looks quite bland) and the theme music lacks a punch, but i do like the headline sting

That's TV springs to mind.

I don't believe it. VM cover the story on the lotto draw prices being increased per line in their 8pm bulletin. That is all well & good but RTÉ News had already covered that story as I was reading that story on their Aertel pages on Saorview a few days ago.

They've screwed up the official Facebook and Twitter accounts for Two and Three.

Virgin Media Two header says 'the new name for be3' yet the pinned post/tweet says 'the new name for 3e'.

Virgin Media Three header says 'the new name for 3e' yet the pinned post/tweet says 'the new name for be3'.

The logos are blurred low res versions.

Unbelievably amateurish.

It appears when Virgin Mobile was purchased from Virgin Group by Flextech to create Virgin Media a licensing deal was struck to continue using the Virgin brand, but I suspect this has restrictions?

Yet oddly, when they rebranded Ftn in the UK as Virgin1 back in 2007 there didn't seem to be any restriction on the use of the name.

It was subsequently only rebranded again as Channel One when BSkyB (as was) purchased it as part of the Living TV Group.

The use of the prefix 'Virgin Media x' seems cumbersome, to say the least. As others have suggested, I suspect they will colloquially become either 'Virgin x' or 'VM x'

<snip>

So is it the 'Virgin Media News Hub' (tacky) or the 'Virgin Media Newsroom'? Neither sound particularly convincing as a source of news. Shocked

That shiny back floor in the studio looks dreadful, although I understand it's been there from the previous TV3 news, and doesn't seem to bother them enough to change it. Rolling Eyes

PS: The 'O' in the DOG on VM One looks like a winking smiley face because of the Virgin Media logo squashed inside it. Wink
