Tivo's epg is not dynamic, unlike the others, and only updates once a day. So if there are any updates to the schedule, it often doesn't account for this, likewise, overrunning programmes. Very annoying as a viewer.

I've loathed that about Tivo, which is a shame because it's my one and only bug bear with it. Whenever Wimbledon is on, the EPG for BBC One and BBC Two are practically void.

Anyone know why One Hundred and Eighty! isn't being broadcast on Sky One HD this evening and an episode of the Simpsons is airing? Virgin TiVo EPG says it's One Hundred and Eighty airing though!

Think they've gone to airing it once a week on Tuesdays. The Wednesday episodes weren't rating because they barely advertised the fact that it was on twice a week.

Who controls the info on VM's TiVo EPG - VM or the channel?

Reason I ask is The Naked Gun (from the files of Police Squad) is on Dave at the moment, but the EPG is showing it to be an obscure 1956 film of a similar name "Naked Gun" complete with a list of stars including Willard Parker. Only problem is the summary of the plot is for the Police Squad film! It's half a dozen of one and six of the other.

Completely off topic here but on a similar theme was searching Digiguide to find out when they were beginning to air The Muppets new show and this rather amused me:
Quote:
FILM: The Muppets Take Manhattan
On: Sky1
Date: Saturday 17th October 2015 (starting in 9 days)
Time: 4:10 PM to 6:00 PM (1 hour and 50 minutes long)

Bradley Wiggins attempts to break the world hour record at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London. The UCI hour record currently stands at 52.937km (32.9 miles).
(Stereo, Widescreen, Subtitles, 1984, U, 3 Star)

Director: Frank Oz
Starring: Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Richard Hunt, Jerry Nelson

Now I can understand some series picking up descriptions for past films with the same name, but this one is surely somebody taking the piss.

I used to notice how VM would never give any specific details on The One Show, yet Sky and Freeview would establish who was the guest at the very least.

Think the One Show billing is updated on-the-day. If Tivo is using a downloaded rather than dynamically updated EPG - then they won't get the update.

It seems to come up every year. I'm honestly surprised VM have never tried to solve it, or is it a fixed element of TiVo's architecture that can't be changed?

It's not TiVo's problem, it's just something Virgin/ntl/Telewest have never done. And it's pretty safe to bet, given their decreasing focus on television altogether, that it will never be fixed.

The original TVDrive/V+ STBs (manufactured by Scientific Atlanta) famously would stop responding at around 1am for up to an hour while the EPG update was delivered.

Yep, there's two different issues here. Tivo boxes source their listings from a different supplier to the other VM boxes, which will be the same as Freeview/Freesat/Sky etc. But unlike those other platforms, VM is not sent near-real time updates, they just get the one overnight update.
