Apparently this'll be the look of the software that will be coming to VM/TiVo....

<snip>

Me likey, better than the same looking crap font we've had to put up with for over a decade now.

Have we been using the same OS since Active Digital?

Back then it actually looked much better then what it is now, textured backgrounds and translucent guides.

Ex-TW and Ex-CWC certainately have both used Liberate software (I think they still do), although since the software changed from the NTL to the VM version they have got rid of that hideous yellow ring that would outline whatever you had selected, even at the time it looked dated, in comparison to Sky certainately.

Going back to TW and CWC both had similar hardware and software as they were more likely to merge and thus the integration would have been easier, but as we know now it never happened and took NTL a while to merge its software and EPG with both it's own and CWC's.

I was thinking of delaying getting a TiVo (only had my V HD since May) , but I'm really liking what I've seen so far, although I'll decide when they say how much it'll cost.

For a blast from the past, press home, interactive then email. It even has the TW Bubbles.

I tried that earlier and then when I got to E-Mail a message popped up saying the service had ended, well that's how often I check...!

Anyway, a little teaser of TiVo courtesy of Virgin Media...

All very well and good, but unless Virgin install cables near where I live, I wont be considering it, obviously...

What "XLTV/Triple" means is unclear. Hopefully all will become clear nearer the time. I myself am on XL TV XL Phone and (classic) L Broadband. Will it only trigger if I go to 20 meg first?

It certainly looks better than the current EPG which looks as though it was based on Windows 3.4, but it's possibly too late. Why didn't they take the chance to invest and innovate instead of waiting for DSat to suggest things?

Have Virgin used the money from the sale of VMtv to pay for this?

With no new cable network expansion, this is simply designed to KEEP customers, not generate new ones. Running to stand still is never a good move for any company.
