So after making Mila in India squeal with delight as I instantly found the IP address for my box I wondered if my on-demand issues are as frequent for everyone else?

I'm now getting an error on half my on demand menus and the box is being slow again.

In other news, I see we now have a new firmware on the boxes, did everyone else get this? You can reboot using the power button on the front of the box now instead of having to fanny on with the damn plugs anymore.

Also does anyone know when the new V+ is meant to be appearing and whether it'll be made my crapomatic atlanta again? I'd rather like having the thing but I've tried out my chums and its slow slow slow.

Yes. A lot. I have to restart the box.

Can you? I must try that later.

Same here. It keeps saying ondemand unavailable. It's hardly 'ondemand' if it only works when it wants to.

I wouldnt swap ondemand for Sky, but its safe to say Virgin are useless on most levels. The broadband seems to be more and more unreliable too. And when they say they'll refund your support call if they're in the wrong, they never do, they always bill you for it and you have to call again to claim it back.

Support calls are now free.

Really, how?

The only diffrences I've noticed are that the numbers on the front of the box are more to the right and it prompts me to ask if I really do want to turn on/off subtitles

The box does seem more reliable now, been a week since i got the new software and I've not had to reboot once, not even lost the now and next data

I get messages saying that even when it is working fine

press and hold the standby button until it says StOP on the panel, then release.

Apparently fanny ann will be phoning me back today as "the firmware update has caused some on demand problems", as opposed to those ones that happen when the day ends in a Y i suppose.

Yep mine fell over last night too, and I have the crappy Atlanta box too.

Think they'll give me a rebate if I spreak to this fanny Ann you speak of?

Fanny Ann has just phoned me up telling me my set top box is coming to the end of the life, and I am being sent a new one. I am excited. It might be slightly faster than this ancient Cable and Wireless one (though of course that's modern for some of you!).

if you see a black one coming out of the box, scream and demand the silver/blue samsung one.

annoyingly, my on demand is now working properly. apparently something wrong with dund02's network. again. having flicked through digital spew it seems that adding iplayer to catchup seemed to make a few things break across the board.

Ah good, glad to see I'n not the only person left with a CWC box.

If I were you I would have demanded a V+HD box, when mine packs in (which I'm sure will happen at some point), I'll make the transition.

How old's that box in years? Mine was installed around 2002-ish (IIRC, because the previous digibox had developed a fault) and started playing up as soon as the firmware with the blue colour scheme and the mini guide was upgraded. I might consider buying a V+ in the near future.

On Demand has been playing up more recently, although I've heard of cases where this was a fault at the junction box rather than with the STB.
