I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned elsewhere...

Virgin 1 have revealed their logo:

And on an unrelated note, does anyone remember the Radio 1 logo from the late 70's?:

Crap. That's all that can be said about this I think...

No trace of the VM logo which is a shock, you'd at least expect some similarity between the two since they've been ramming the brand down our throats for months. Not that I mind, I happen to like the corporate logo a lot and with a bit of imagination I'm sure could be adapted for use as a channel logo. Hopefully the Mocks forum will react to this mediocrity and come up with something better.

By the way, should there not be a spinoff Virgin1 Presentation thread now it has a logo?

Will the channel be in widescreen?

I ask because their preview channels (100 and so on) are not.

They are preview channels for on-demand (Virgin Central and what used to be called Teleport). They have to be 4:3 because they appear in the window on the on-demand menus

It's a diffrent product and a diffrent brand though. Remember that, like its sister channels isn't cable exclusive

It's not that different, VMTV uses the same corporate branding. I guess I expected them to follow suit with the way BBC and ITV brand their channels, in order to reinforce the sense of being a big media company with many channels. Having said that, I wouldn't necessarily like to see the existing VMTV channels rebranded in the same way.

The idents will show the "magnetic" force of the red Virgin 1 logo in drawing in other red objects such as telephone boxes and ketchup bottles.

The logo and creative work has been developed as a joint effort between directing partnership Conkerco , affiliated with Academy Films, graphic designer Andrew Fairhurst and in-house resource at Virgin Media TV.

Conkerco are the same company who did the 'controversial' BBC Digital 'Heads' trailers.

The Virgin 1 website has a different look, nothing new added besides the logo. http://www.virgin1.co.uk/

Note that virginone.co.uk is for a completely different product than virgin1.co.uk - which makes the choice of title questionable at best!
