Very Happy

You'll live to regret saying that.

My (Pace ex-Telewest) box is working better with the new software. A lot less sluggish and i can scan through the now and next banner without it suddenly disappearing

Try the FAQs on the VM website.

My box changed the other day. I won't go into details, but I wish they hadn't bothered. There are some bits that I like, but I could live without them.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but are Virgin Media still planning on offering customers to change their email address from @ntlworld.com to @virginmedia.com?
If so, when?

Having got Virgin installed at my aunt's house today I have some bumf in front of me. It claims that although they are still using blueyonder.co.uk at the moment they'll change to virginmedia.com eventually.

I presume they want to weed out the duplicates before moving t the new domain.

I'm wondering how I go about registering first dibs on my name @ virginmedia.

My name isn't particularly common, but even so I wouldn't like to think I will lose the opportunity to get the easy to remember forename.surname email address.

Virgin Media is likely to sign a deal in the next few weeks that will create a new sports news channel, according to Broadcast .

The new service is intended to replace Sky Sports News, which was axed from the cable operator's lineup earlier this year as part of a still-ongoing carriage dispute with Sky.

Virgin's sports channel could also appear on Sky as a direct rival to Sky Sports News, but whether Sky Sports News would return to Virgin - in the event of a resolve - is still up in the air. Malcolm Wall, CEO of Virgin's content division, said the broadcaster was "too far into the process not to go ahead with our own sports news channel".

The magazine says that Setanta Sports is the most likely partner for Virgin in its venture, although talks have been held with alternative sports specialists.

Well my 1st Generation Pace STB with the Cable & Wireless logo has finally got the new software, my initial reaction is that it looks nice, but it's very slow!

For the first time EVER (I think) the new software is slightly faster than the old revision - at least on my 5+ year old Pace box.

Although recently I tried to use VOD and it told me I needed a subscription - is this a new thing or is there just a problem with my account? (God knows I've had enough already - getting VM working has been the most stressful thing about moving house!!).

Edit: A bit of Internet surfing answered my own question:

Seems that "TV Choice on Demand" (which is what I was browsing) is no longer free if you're on the "freeview" package (as I am). Bum.

I was looking around the with the new EPG and I noticed the same, it seemed faster, still slow but not clunky or painful as it was.

I don't like the new Favourites Option, it was nice just to press Favourites and see the EPG quickly or in the order you've selected it in.

Why (when viewing On Demand programmes) does the screen continually go blank every few seconds? It has always happened, but recently it has been more frequent. It is extremely annoying, as it makes the programme unwatchable. For every few seconds of proper viewing, there are a few seconds of blankness. Rolling Eyes Not particularly good when you subscribe to the TV Hits section.

Doesn't happen for me, I suggest you contact VM.

Found this in the Feedback column of this week's New Scientist which most owners of old Pace boxes using Virgin Media will identify with...

ENJOYMENT of a programme on cable TV was interrupted for James Howlett by a large message box covering most of the screen. It announced: "You are recieving an update to your service. The Remote Control will not work for a few moments. To clear this message please press OK on the remote control.
