Anyone get the new leaflets today?

Front of it said "Sutton Hall Drive" (our street) "just got sexier."

Later on inside it said that our street had just become a Virgin Media area (which makes no sense as it has been for years as next door had NTL:)

Usual mass-mailing marketing trick. Makes some people think they have got an individual letter, well they have as far as their name and street goes, the rest is the same as the other 100,000+

We've had a letter from Sky posted us through today with the 'Don't Lose Lost' tagline, but I find it more worrying that Sky know we subscribe to Virgin Media.

Oh wow I must switch to Sky to see Lost, No Thanks, Mr Branson will be getting my money for the long term.

When I was watching Channel 4 earlier they showed another VM targeted advert, but this time it was blagging about Sky Sports News. I knew my cheapo Freeview box would come in handy some day. Very Happy

I'm getting sick of the Sky ads lately. That Sky Sports News ad is actually really good and when I first saw it my initial though was good, they're finally giving it some promotion.

And then of course if ended with the "Virgin Media customers can't get it" line and telling you to phone Sky to watch SSN - completly ignoring the fact it's available on Freeview.

For now anyhow - though officially Sky have decided Freeview viewers won't have it - or delayed screenings of Lost, 24 etc. if the Sky pay- DTT thing gets off the ground.

In the scheme of things Sky would be pulling alot more content of Freeview than they have off Virgin Media.

Don't worry, they probably don't. My friend got one yesterday morning too, and she's never been an NTL or Virgin Media customer.

We got one of the Sky cards through the door saying about switching to them. It was addressed to me - and our Virgin Media account isn't in my name, so I assume they must be getting our address from somewhere other than Virgin?

I imagine some of us will also be getting this booklet soon, which tries to explain some of the differences between Sky and Virgin Media.

Yeah, it was obvious from the printing that it was a quick industrial print. Nothing unique at all.

Miaow.

I'm glad Sky are finally defending themselves.

I often get leaflets from Sky. I also got one from Virgin Media today saying I can get tv, broadband, phone and mobile for £40 per month even though im already one of their customers!

I used to get endless leaflets from NTL through my letterbox in my last house when cable wasn't actually available on the street.

The annoying one is back again but I just want say that altho I havn't wanted to take sides I actually I am now leaning more towards Sky on this personally. After all the channels are theirs at the end of the day and all, their customer service when I rang were helpful and charming and I got 'straight' though. Virgin took 45 minutes to answer and I felt were very cocky with me. Ok so I am leaving and they wanted me to stay of course but they have withdrawn services they said had promised me when I ordered,

but I told them I want to watch Brainiac and they could NEVER provide that for me, but saying "What! but the viewing figures for that show are microscopic"" ... Mad Mad Shut up! What does that have to do me as a customer? Some of us have minority interests Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes thats why we step up to a multi-channel platform from standard/freeview tv for!!!!!

Apparently Cadbury and chums want their advertising money back as the audiences are shrinking.

Also this claims that the BBC, ITV and C4 are trying to get ofcom to throw Sky out of freeview.

fun fun fun
