I think any rumour is getting printed at the moment, but according to DS Virgin are now planning to expand outside cable areas with a Homechoice/Tiscali TV/BT Vision style Freeview/Broadband service.
I'm fairly certain she is a he, no woman with a working mind would watch Brainiac.
Yes she is a he, and yes this pillock has been using this a blog, he sees the annoying little worm he's been, but he had been trying to get though to Virgin via 150 for over a week. So was here for pushing & looking nuggets of info he might me able to learn in the meantime as it seemed to best place to find them....... so he is sorry for being a such an annoying idiot. Now he know's using a TV forum for TV related info isn't welcomed and know's to probe a Health & Beauty forum next time round.
1. Becuase they would better serve the UK audiences
The majority of their staff (if not all) are based in the UK; the executives running it are and they are regulated by UK authorities - why does the nationality of the person who owns a share of a PLC matter?

2. Because it would stop some other multinational from becoming as greedy as Murdoch.
Greedy? That really is quite strange - 'he' provide a service that millions of people wish to pay for and which is regulated by the Competition Commission among others - what is 'he' doing wrong?

They way Rupert Murdoch has behaved in the immediate aftermath of the suspension of his services on Virgin seem only to have confirmed his "everything mine!" mindset. Look how quickly his marketing men moved following the debacle; it's as if these posters are part of some pre-conceived PR stunt:
While I can't speak for Murdoch's shareholders, there is no doubt what he wants and it's not in the viewers' interests for him to get it.
Virgin Media's marketing department will be attempting to do the exact same thing as Sky - make their company look the best in a situation which will cost them both money.
It would be fairly foolish for any outsider to apportion blame at a time when the facts aren't known - do Sky really want to hike the prices up or are Virgin using it to gain some publicity and make Sky look bad.
btw, Rupert Murdoch owns 29% of News Corporation which in turn owns around 38% of Sky; this equates to around 11% of Sky.

I have heard:@ ""apparently virgin media customers need not fear as richard branson has said that if he and sky wont come to an amicable agreement then he will pay over the odds for the rights to future series of all their top rated shows (lost, 24, alias etc) and screen them on his own purpose built channel V1"""

and then charge BSkyB a fortune to carry the channel on DSat

In this case, paying over the odds for shows such as Lost and 24 does not make good business sense, particular as both shows are past their prime. And I would say Virgin bidding for 24 or The Simpsons is ruled out for obvious reasons.

True. What Branson should be promising is a "V1 Channel" with new programmes (obviously not made by Fox) from the US. If he's really prepared to dig deep into his pockets he can out-bid BBC, ITV and C4.
Was thinking of leaving VM as I wanted to move up to Talk Unlimited, however Sky had a greater number of TV Channels in their S/S/S package and costs are important to me.
Wasn't too bothered about Sky one, as [mentioned b4] I've not been keeping up with Lost, I've still to go thru series 3-5 of 24 on DVD & by the time i've done that, series 6 will be out and probably at a redcued rate; so quite happy to wait for Lost on VOD
Was paying just under £30 for 2mb BB, free tv & phone line only. VM offered me XL TV, Talk Unlimited & same BB for £34.95 inc of line rental and for "the rest of your life, if you want it".
It certainly saves me the haslte of moving to Sky (and also to BT in order to get BB & Unlimted talk package), and I'm keeping my costs down as well - for me it's enough to keep me.

I wish I could get cable. As much as I like my Sky+ service, when I add up Sky's 2-mix and Plus sub (£27), my BT (£25) and AOL broadband (£20) I'm spending a fortune (£72 a month) by buying everything seperately!
Well a week on in MK Virgin Analogue land and the Hallmark channel which replaced Sky One is still showing the same message as per above on frequent basis which makes the channel pretty much useless.
