1. Becuase they would better serve the UK audiences;
2. Because it would stop some other multinational from becoming as greedy as Murdoch.

There are two faults with your arguement:
Arrow TV companies are there to make money. It is irrelevent which country the company is based in. Basically Five is owned by a German company (RTL), but they have still tried to improve the channel for the UK audience because it's in their interest to do so.
Arrow Multi-national companies are the way the world has been going for a while. They aren't owned by a single person - that's why they have thousands of shareholders. Are you branding all share-holders "greedy people"?

They way Rupert Murdoch has behaved in the immediate aftermath of the suspension of his services on Virgin seem only to have confirmed his "everything mine!" mindset. Look how quickly his marketing men moved following the debacle; it's as if these posters are part of some pre-conceived PR stunt:

While I can't speak for Murdoch's shareholders, there is no doubt what he wants and it's not in the viewers' interests for him to get it.

Ah, but Lost is appearing on the VOD service, is it not?

Good, you've been talking for a good while about abandoning ship for oft-repeated LCD programming and now you have, kindly shut up about it.

Amen to that. First, we're bored with endless questions - the answers to which could have been simply obtained by picking up the Virgin landline and dialling 150 - and now we're subjected to a running commentary of the impossible decision of whether or not to switch from Virgin to Sky.

Seriously, I wish someone would let her into the secret that this website isn't her own personal blog, where she should come and dump every random thought that passes through her mind on the ever-growing Virgin/Sky should I?/shouldn't I? decision-making process.

Odd that there is news that Virgin Media are suggesting a price rise to replace the Sky Channels:
DS Report
Surely the money they have saved is enough to invest in their own channels, or in Virgin Central to buy rights?
