How long has The Simpsons been on Sky News?

That really is taking dumbing down beyond the pale.

I'm not a customer of Virgin as I don't live in a cabled area, but it seems to me Virgin have the best offers with their new Virgin Central channel allowing you to watch what you want, when you want at no charge.

That would be the case if Virgin Central was actually any good, but it's absolutely wretched. Showing very limited numbers of old episodes of shows like Nip/Tuck and Spooks is hardly a reasonable replacement for Sky One.

Yes, they've got the VOD rights for Lost, but they'll have to do much better than that if they really want people to watch Virgin Central, and placate those viewers who will miss Sky One.

Frankly, I'm not fussed that it's gone, although I will miss Sky Sports News. But I'm over it.

This palava also disadvantages me in that I'm on taping duty for 24 and Lost for a family member.

SUCH an inconvience.

i very much doubt you called up birmingham cable when you were 3 years old to get cable installed.

Exactly, I have a lot of mates and family with Virgin who have asked me to record the new series of 24 for them. They think that as I have Sky+ I can just stick it on record and give it to them, but I have to find spare DVD-RW's and the time to dub them off the box onto DVD. Sure, I could just say no, but I find it a little unfair that they miss out just because Sky and Virgin aren't getting on. Hopefully they will take advantage of the 'get out of contract' deal Virgin are doing and switch.

That's the thing, they are making Virgin Central out to be a great service, but the content as it stands is nothing decent. Sky Anytime on TV make not be true VOD, but I've got a strage feeling it will be better than Virgin Central as it will probably have the same content as Sky Anytime on PC, which has a MUCH bigger library.

Is it right that Nickeldon and the Nicktoon's & Nick Jnrs channels all were pulled from various cable platforms for X amout of time and they were re-instated?

Its a gamble, and is Sky One ever going to come back to Virgin.... my guess would be 'no'

I don't think they're accepting anything, the law is on the consumers side if they have TV only. Simple thing is Virgin promised something which they later withdrew (it was their decision to not pay for the channels so they in turn are responsible, not the consumers). Their service isn't as what it was sold to be, so therefore they have to go back on their word and allow for cancellations.

Surely though the contracts cover that with lines such as "channel line up may vary" etc.

Yes it was pulled from Telewest about a year or so ago and Sky used the same tactics then as well. Evil or Very Mad
