For two fairly average (and a bit repetitive) programmes, you'd pay £5-7 a month? Fair enough, though if I were you I'd pay the £50 disconnection fee to VM and have done with it.

Matter of ones option Brainiac is borderline genius (for nerds like me) and the simpsons is arguebly the greatest tv show ever..

But you can just pay £50 to termante the Virgin contact... really? I'll pay and switch to sky in that case....but I am giving it a few weeks see what happens because brainiac doesn't come back til later in the year so I am sitting on it for now.

It was announced today that until the end of March you can terminate your contract for free.

Glad to see you have principals! Confused

Virgin are completly wrong to do this IMO - it's as if they're accepting they are the ones in the wrong!

Now, I suppose with Sky's morals they'll of course be offering free installation for any cable customer who wants Sky Digital. Or perhaps not!

Murdoch is a...... but he's got what I want, and has me over a barrel. It's just the way it is....

Even so, I moral 3 reasons out of it. sky 1 and i'll get sky 2 aswell and sky does have greater selection of radio stations virgin has hardly any. Ps, I have telephone, tv and broadband from virgin will only swap tv to sky will happily keep my internet & phone from virgin.

AND!!!! I blame BOTH of the companies I think its six of one and half of the other personally.

Sky is controlled by a greedy, mean, foul, rude, anti-competitive, selfish, immoral old layabout. Sky should rot in hell. Sky One, Two, Three and its news is sh*t. Its so biased I would prefer to watch itv news and that is saying something. Evil or Very Mad I HATE IT

Aaahhh - you're screwed then. According to Media Guardian only customers who have just the TV service can get out of their contracts!

Seriously though I'd still advise anyone considering to hold tight - it's almost certainly a question of when, not if, they'll return.

I don't think they're accepting anything, the law is on the consumers side if they have TV only. Simple thing is Virgin promised something which they later withdrew (it was their decision to not pay for the channels so they in turn are responsible, not the consumers). Their service isn't as what it was sold to be, so therefore they have to go back on their word and allow for cancellations.

I'm not a customer of Virgin as I don't live in a cabled area, but it seems to me Virgin have the best offers with their new Virgin Central channel allowing you to watch what you want, when you want at no charge.

Out of the 2 companies I believe that Sky are the worst and hopefully have the most to lose out of this. I think they're too greedy and are used to being the monopoly, hopefully the new Virgin Media will change this, and it looks as though that's exactly what they intend on doing.

Well done Virgin!
