I'm still waiting on the software update (even though it takes away the ability to organise channels yourself which stinks)

You're kidding - right?

I think the quadplay should definitely be emphasised. They should be proud of the fact that they are the first company to do all four! I like the symbold ntl: use for TV, Broadband and Phone - create one for mobile and make them all Virginised.

I'll take it you're not using NTL.

No I think he means moving the channels arund, and yes that has now been scrapped.

Oh okay, sorry.

Well ditching the rearrange channels feature is a terrible idea. That was a goo feature, and I don't like having them in a 'default' order.

I have all the BBC channels together, all the ITV channels together, and all the UKTV channels together, and so on. Removing this feature can only be a bad thing. I even included it on my Virgin Media mock.

Well, it's happening upon the next firmware update to rebrand to Virgin Media due to happen anytime upto June. Also, it'll limit your TV Guide to one single solitary day unless you go get their PVR which'll reinstate the 7 day guide that got abandoned during the change to CR2 firmware but the channel reshuffling ability won't be back even if you get the PVR so it's not all good at all if you valued such basic things like having your channels in an order you chose and wanting to plan more than 24 hours ahead without paying £60 for the privilege. Ooh, but you do get Uma Thurman fronting the campaign for your hobbled service so not all bad.

More info on it can be found at Cable Forum or go over to DS if you're feeling that way inclined.

For those interested in the spiff of the V+Box PVR, here it is as pilfered from CF.

It's a shame, my ancient Tivo looks better.

I hate that box, it really is not pretty at all. Digital Spew reckon its a fake, and I can only hope.

Somehow I doubt it, otherwise that is a VERY good fake!

DS always reckon everything is a fake given the SNR over there but then we get the same thing each time someone says a rebrand is upcoming but ours don't have the vital input that is images, that box is all very real though.

As for the upcoming "upgrade", it's essentially beta testing on a large scale. Might be different by the time you get it due to it not really being roadworthy right now and making CR1 seem like a wet dream in comparison but at least you get to say "Oi, your software's crap Virgin, sort it 'aht" in you're in Coventry, Basildon or Ashford. Even one of their execs is admitting it's near garbage right now as spoken here.

I'll say one thing though, expect the next few years to be like terraforming on a huge scale for all services, including crummy CS which closes at 8pm.
