So what channels are actually supposed to be taken off? Is it all but the free-to-air channels which they have to show, or only certain ones?

Sky One, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Travel, Sky Travel Extra and Sky Two.

So Sky Sports and Movies is staying? Not that I have those anyway.

Yeah, it's just the basic channels that are going.

I'm presuming Sky Sports and Movies are under a different deal.

Hooray! Sky News is going! I won't have to endure the huge ticker when the box freezes when I'm channel flicking!!!

This is great news if Sky News will be going tonight, as the channels graphics and presentation are awful. I find the channel useless, but we still have good old BBC News 24 now!

Sky One will be a shame to see go, but it's nothing to change from Virgin Media to Sky because of it. The Sky channels I have are Sky One, Sky Sports News and Sky News. Sky Movies and sports channels I don't have at the moment.

So in general I am not missing out on much. I wonder if their will be a last minute deal though..

I find it disgraceful that Virgin Media is being made to look like the 'bad guy 'on the news channels. Its exactly what Sky want-bad press for the newly rebranded company.

The fact is Sky have offered an unbelievably unreasonable price for their channels which is no where near their actual value; whilst Sky pay Virgin Media TV (Flextech) much less for Living, etc.

Sky is the only 'bad guy' here. Its unbelievable how they have managed to get away with it thus far and I only hope something is done to stop them ruining DTT as well.

I hope people with Virgin Media stick with it and do not play into Sky's greedy hands.

I'd switch over tomorrow if I wasn't under a year's contract. The day its up I'll be switching over to sky + regardless of what is happening by then. I have to pay for a white elephant television service for 10 months now tho Evil or Very Mad

If the channels do go I guess Virgin will be quick to get it showing a promo for Virgin Central. If not I wouldn't put it past Sky to display a screen along the lines of "NTL-Virgin do not believe this channel is worth while, to switch to Sky call [[insert number]]".

Has anyone come across Sky's Simpsons promo about these happenings?

I've seen The Simpsons promo, it's everything you'd expect. Voiceover says something like: "Virgin are going to take this channel off you", cue clip of Homer going "D'oh, but I love cable" and so forth.

I don't care who's responsible for this - as a Virgin customer I will be losing Sky channels. And as far as I can see, they've blown it. It's Sky's channels - they can do what the hell they want with them. And Virgin could easily withdraw their channels, except they blew it and gave them to Sky for sod all.

Virgin are acting like schoolboys against Sky's genius marketing, and they're going to have to do a hell of a lot better than their piss-poor Virgin Central effort to keep customers on board.

The read is interesting, so I wonder what will happen at Midnight, will te channels stay or not? As I think their is a slight chance of Sky and Virgin reaching a deal.
