Yeah but if I got rid of NTL/Virgin to have Sky then id have to get BT instead as I get my phone line via NTL/Virgin.
Like I said above you dont NEED to get rid of your virgin phone line - you can still kepp it and get Sky. Its your choice. There is no one forcing you.
I think the main point people are getting at is to change to Sky Talk and Sky Broadband, a BT line is required. However, to just change TV provider, a Sky box can be connected to a Virgin Phone line as if it were a BT line.

I wouldn't worry, If the 3 Sky channels disappear at the end of tomorrow they'll be back within a fortnight.

Wouldnt bother me if they didnt come back. I hardly watch Sky One.
It may not bother you, but it will bother a lot of people with Virgin Media.

Bang on, every other ad break there's always one on, Sky can bombard us as much as they like but I think the removal of three/four channels isn't going to get an extra couple of million of Sky subscriptions is it?
As much as I will miss the endless repeats of Futurama and The Simpsons, I'm glad Virgin have taken this decision, I don't think Sky One has got better, it's just same old same old really.
I will miss Sky Sports News, but I have Freeview as back up, so I'm okay for now, but my cousin who only has Virgin is gutted about SSN.

I have heard that Sky are bombarding the cable feeds with adverts on switching to Sky, just a pitty the Telewest are using the standard sat feeds!

Same here - it's no biggie for me to see the Sky channels disappear, and I certainly wouldn't get Sky just so I can watch the cycle of 90% repeats that is Sky One/Two.
The only thing of interest to me that's brand new on Sky One is Battlestar Galactica, but I can watch that by other means.
Sky Three isn't avaliable to me anyway and I don't watch Sky Sports News. I'm a bit sad about loosing Sky News, but since that's currently going down the pan under its own steam, I'm not going to be broken hearted.
So, sorry BSkyB. There's going to be no angry phone calls to VM from me concerning those five channels.

Does anyone know if the cable feeds normally exist? As well as the "switch" campaign, I noticed Sky One was pretty low quality over the weekend. I reckon they've either deliberately dropped the bandwidth to make it look pants, or just bodged together the cable feeds onto a spare bit of bandwidth.
