Thank goodness, if I see that 'Virgin' smash up against that '1' one more time I'll scream!

As Virgin1 is up for sale, along with the other VMTV channels, it seems an odd time to rebrand as you'd imagine any potential buyer is likely to drop the Virgin name.

Not necessarily. Virgin Radio continued for many years after Branson sold it.

I think Virgin had a sort of "ten year clause" set up when they sold the station to Chris Evans, I believe that was back in 1998 & by 2008 they had to drop the Virgin brand. They could yet do that with Virgin 1

It was more to do with the sale of the station - when Virgin sold the station to Ginger (which itself became part of SMG), there was a clause that if SMG then sold the station on to someone else the name would have to change. So when SMG decided to concentrate on TV and get rid, the name had to go...

Do many others support that view?

I'm quite fond of Virgin 1's current branding. They've subtly changed it over the last few years to something that is more than half decent. It's my favourite channel, but that possibly has something to do with me being an unashamed trekkie Laughing .

I do hope they haven't employed another marketing wizz-kid with wonderful ideas about red objects rushing together to form a '1'; the best thing they ever did was drop that concept. The current ident/logo may well be annoying to some, but it's versatile and instantly recognisable.

I noticed they dropped the live action '1' idents pretty quickly in favour of the menus, so glad they are getting a new look.

Seems I was misinformed then Laughing

It wasn't 10 years it was just continuous. The new owners who bought it from SMG decided not to continue licensing it.

Quite a few Virgin companies work this way, most are not fully owned by the Virgin Group. Virgin Media are a good example, Virgin own a very small bit of it

Could the logo at the end of this trail be the new Virgin1 logo? It looks a bit...unfinished.
