So this is the channel to rival Sky One.... will it?? well its not excally 'HIGH UP' on Virgin and sky's EPG is it? I would of thought that Virgin would of have had up high as like number 106 after the main 5.

But it is FTA and on Freeview part time so its possible it may out perform Sky One in terms of ratings but in terms of programming already Sky One is winning hands down as Virgin 1 has nothing to offer me personally (not yet). Well Seinfeld possibly if nothing elese on as I had casually watched it from time on Paramount. I am very interested in The Sarah Connor Cronicles however, but could just download those anyway.

This consumer still more interested in watching Simpsons episodes for the 15th time, but then thats just me.

Very impressed with the idents, not sure about the programmes yet, but looking forward to watching Take It Or Leave It this evening.

Don't think I've ever seen such a boring gameshow as Take It Or Leave It. An entire hour to answer ten questions and five mini-questions and walk about 60ft across a studio floor, complete with incredibly irritating stings, cameras that fly everywhere and a studio that's so obscenely big its pointless.

Very underwhelmed by TIOLI last night. It was absolutely depressing to watch. Possibly the most boring gameshow I've seen in a long time. Enjoyed A Fish Called Wanda last night, and loved the film sting before the movie.

Can the thread sub-title be changed? I really don't like posting in a thread started by a Digital Spy nay-sayer.

Seconded.

Thirded.

Thought I'd add my 2 cents on the Riches, which I've finally got around to watching. One of the best dramas I've watched in ages. Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver are superb!

A Fish Called Wanda got 108,000 viewers last night to 249,000 for Sky One's A town called Eureka.

Earlier 490,000 tuned in for a Simpson repeat on Sky One.

And Jonathan Webb says Freeview is important to Virgin 1. I fail to see what he means. If Freeview was important he would have tried harder to get it 24 hours on the platform. As a result my interest in the channel is 2 out of 84 hours a week. It could have been 24 out of 168 hours a week.

sigh, this is what I hate about digital TV. They are showing the same esp of criminal minds as the launch night which is just lazy, do it early in the morning but not during the last hour of "Prime time"

ITV2 are like this when they come to showing Movies, one night they'll show one after 10/11pm or so, and then show it again the next night at 9pm.

yeah I know. The worst I saw was when they was advertising Tomorrow never dies for the following day, yet it was on an hour later after corrie as well!

I think its just lazy TV and its one of my biggest banes with Multi channel TV. If they don't have enough content for a channel to keep it at least semi fresh then don't launch the channel at all. Problem is that won't happen

Never really understood ITV2's strategy. If they aired the movie first in the 9pm slot and then repeated it in the later slot the next night it would make more sense.

As for Virgin1 - I think as with FTN and ABC1 before it - even if there are things at launch which catch your eye, six months later Virgin1 will get stuck in the cycle of repeating the same handful of programmes ad-nausea and the channel will just get stuck in a rut.
