I'm just watching "The IT Crowd" on Channel 4.

It's the first thing i've watched in so so long on TV (that isn't live like news or GMTV or whatever) that hasn't had the de-interlacing process put on it. Not had the filmic process added to it in other words.

Am i the only one who is really distracted by standard interlaced video used on new stuff now? It just doesn't look right? The IT crowd just looks very weird.

Am I correct in thinking that it's about the picture looking a bit to clear and lifelike.. the total opposite of old 70s US sitcoms?

It doesn't look very modern, but I think it works and is appropriate for this more "traditional" 3 wall set infront of a live audience comedy. I find the "filmic" effect more distracting when there is a studio audience as it puts a sort of barrier in my way, it only works for locational stuff (League of Gentlemen) or no laughter track (smoking room).

I read that the writers wanted to make this series in a more traditional sit-com way, and I think it makes a nice change.
