According to the Virgin EPG, Vice is closing down on Virgin Media on the 20th at 6am. Not surprising to me, given the dreadful ratings it’s had. Wonder if it’s closing on Sky as well.

I thought it was only on demand on Sky.

It would be a shame, as it had some pretty alright shows.

Vice is now showing a Virgin caption. And the Sky EPG shows that Vice is staying on Sky, for now...

Looks like they might be considering abandoning Europe all together! Think it’ll be interesting to see whether they choose to abandon their other deals on Sky/All4 and their Freeview channel.

I saw on Twitter their Dutch channel closed the other day.

I suppose it's only a matter of time before it closes on Sky then as well?

According to the Telegraph, the deal with Sky is not due to end until next year but I would imagine this is a total retreat from linear programming.

They also have an on demand output deal with All4 so question remains if they will just become a supplier of VOD material... might serve them better to just license the very few shows that appear to have somewhat broken through like Dark Side Of The Ring and F*** That’s Delicious.

To be honest I always struggled to wonder just who the channel was actually aimed at even though some of their news and reporting quite good at times... I just think Vice (and specifically Shane Smith) were probably very good at making people think they were a much bigger deal than they really were.
