Well, according to the daily express the vicar of dibley is set to return to our screens for a one-off comic relief special (airing on March 16th). the BBC has been overwhelmed by requests to bring her out of retirement so soon after the supposed final episode aired. so i ask is this a good thing or a bad thing? i myself liked the vicar of dibley but the BBC has a habit of keeping shows broadcasting past their sell by date.
so hopefully this really will be just a one-off.

I've read this is really just a 10 minute short for Comic Relief, but with Geraldine being married, "the dynamic will change". I am not surprised they're doing their bit for Comic Relief, but as much as I love this show, I hope they don't bring it back on a more permenant basis - it's best to leave something near the top of its game than drag it out a la Only Fools.

My first thought at the end of the 'final' episode of The Vicar Of Dibley, was 'How soon until they decide to do another one-off special?'

If this is just a short insert for Comic Relief, then that's fair enough I suppose. But bumping up the Christmas viewing figures by telling everyone it'd be the final episode ever, and then going on to do a further full episode so soon after would be rather cheeky.

Oh, jolly! I can't wait, It was so sad, when the second Christmas special ended - does anyone know if this will be the final final episode/special ever? The Beeb, really should keep it on air, as the Christmas specials did really well in ratings wise!

Let's hope that the end of the fabulous VoD gives Curtis time to make a much anticipated new series of Blackadder.

After all, the BBC are pretty much out of pedigree comedies to tap for Christmas specials in 2007 excepting of the perennial My Family- with apparent conclusive endings for Only Fools and Horses, Vicar of Dibley, The Office and Little Britain, which have occupied the "Christmas Day comedy special" slot over the last few years.

I am not surprised they have brought it back, even if it is for a 10 minute special, as it did very well in the ratings over Christmas. I wouldnt be surprised if they decided to bring it back for another special next Christmas.

Popping back to the pulpit
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the altar - dur-dum! dur-dum! dur-dum! - the Vicar of Dibley is back. It's going to be called the Vicar of Dibley +10 and will follow what happens when the hilarious... No, that's not right, but the Dawn French character is coming back in a one-off special for... Can you guess? Can you guess? You've got it, Comic Relief. "I can reveal that there is going to be one more small episode of Vicar of Dibley that we're doing on Comic Relief this year," writer Richard Curtis told Simon Mayo on Radio Five Live today. "So if people are really worried, there's something coming on March 16." It would take a heart of stone to suggest if we promise to raise lots of money - even more than last year - then Curtis might reconsider. Here's a fiver from Monkey to start things off.

If it's anything like that 'Make Poverty History' edition the other year, I have doubts this special will be anything special

It'll be more like
Geraldine - So Jim, do you ever donate to charity
Jim - No, no no no, no no yes actually I do to Comic Relief, and can too on 0845...
