Yippee!!! As a die-hard Dibley fan I was pleased to read in todays daily Mail that the BBC is very keen to make a brand new Christmas edition of the hilarious sitcom and Richard Curtis is pencilled in to write it. the only setback at present is gathering the writers and cast together due to busy schedules of the individuals, but it does look likely that there will be a Christmas Day showing of The Vicar of Dibley after a four year absence. There is also a Comic Relief special planned to headline the next Telethon in March. This is great news, at least IMHO.

Nooooo!!!! Although The VofD never really had an end, I hate comebacks - they are rarely as watchable as the original series and usually much poorer in quality.

Heggesey ruined Only Fools and Horses by bringing it back!

I too loved that programme, but I agree with 'Brekkie Boy', things are never the same again. But I may be proved wrong, it could be quite good.

As long as they don't make a new series but just periodical specials just to let us catch up with the characters would be good and funny storylines can be devised from that format. A series of six or seven episodes would be wrong. after this christmas special and Comic Relief editions, maybe a one off special and final episode in 2007. It does need a satisfactory and funnily fitting ending. And two Festive episodes in gapped years would be the best thing to do.

It would be funny to see how Hugo and Alices daughter turned out !!!

Wouldn't it be good if they had a daughter who had an extremely high IQ
and at the age of five is the annoyingly cocky little bright spark of a kid who wears national health glasses and corrects everyone all the time much to the delight of David Horton.

Some one at the BBC has just copied that entire paragraph onto a yellow post it note... Wink

Although this isn't a comeback, it could prob have the same effect as one.

Red Dwarf had a 4 year break from the fantastic Series 6, and just look how awful Series 7 was. It will never be as good as it was.

But, i think this is different, this is afterall RICHARD CURTIS!!! I very much doubt it will be rubbish, i think it'll be very good.

It will also be great to see Dawn French on TV again. The only thing we've seen her in recently was a show which i never bothered watching where she works in a shop and wears stupid glasses. What was that?

Bring it on!!

Dear me, Vicar of Dibley? No, please don't, it was dreadful first time around and a second time will just send me on a homicidal rampage..

Ben, the show Dawn French was last in was called 'Wild West', not too bad if you like dark humour.

Though it's worth remembering that the show only had one full length series anyway.

It was the same with many of the 90s British ''comedies''...

Cast of odd characters + bizarre location + totally baffling and unrealistic story line = funny.

However, I think VoD actually was one of the better few, even if that's not saying a great deal. Considering how long it ran for, it does deserve a proper ending, but there's no way they could get another series out of it. I'd make this Christmas episode the last.

Hope they don't do it as though time has been frozen, though. It has been a while since the characters last appeared, so surely logical to take note of that.

Agree Richard Curtis is excellent - but I'd much prefer a new sitcom from him!
