Well VH1 MTV Discovery and so are US-borne channels, so it makes sense that they follow their US counterpart. I dont like the new logo either. But I've seen the US network ID's and they are brilliant. They more than make up for the ugliness of the logo.
As Dead Ringers once said, "Oh my God, you've made it look like a gay Klingon's boudoir!"
God, that is VERY poor..... very poor indeed....
On a slight deviation, has anyone noticed how crap MTV Dance is getting for PROPER dance music these days? It's like they've forgotten what Dance Music sounds like. Half the videos like Eminem should be on MTV Base..... maybe I'll send them some of my Ministry of Sound / Ibiza / Clubmix CDs and refresh their memory.....
Since Dance music isn't popular in the UK at the moment, MTV seem to refuse to play it. MTV Dance's ratings dipped when they played dance music over the summer, so they went into panic mode and filled the playlist with pop and r'n'b to win back viewers. They've done this before aswell, but with pressure they've always reverted to playing dance after a few weeks. I doubt they will this time though.
If you are one of the few that still likes dance music, then check out R:MUZIK on Rapture TV for house/trance videos.
The New Logo and DOG is so crap!! Just the kinda thing a cheap, downmarket channel would have. Any channel with a silly coloured dog are channels not bothering with.
Erm..CNBC? Sky News?
They have coloured DOG's but are both brilliant in their own rights.
I think some people on this forum expect too much from presentation. People that say silly things like "I'm not going to watch this channel anymore because it's got a new logo that I'm not too keen on"
IMHO It's pathetic. Whilst I respect every post and topic in this forum, some people take things too far.

Oh come on!!! Sky news, for a start, a news channel, where dogs DONT bother us a much as there are already lots of other graphics on screen anyway, and that red/Blue dog with the clock, you hardly notice. It’s so far up it does not disrupt you. Now silly pick/Orange/Yellow or whatever VH1 Dog is a mess. The transparent dog in the ads is much better. Come on, you've got to admit, the old dog was much more stylish and looked good. This one looks out of place especially when the blue/Green etc bar comes up with the song/Artist. The other one just blends in. Anyway, could you watch Grease for the 100th time with that pink monster staring at you? BTW, I’m not pro dog like some people. I just like nice ones…..and white or transparent ones.
Anyway like I said in my last post:

So if I try and ignore the dog, the music is still good, WAY WAY better than that excuse for the Music Factory!
Just ignore the dog and Bob’s your uncle and Fanny's your aunt!
As for idents, there are many varieties all ending with the new logo in the centre on a plain colour background (no dog on trails). My favourite are the anagrams ones.
Has anyone noticed that they have changed the MTV Dance dog. Its dog a lime green colour, with the MTV logo to the left of the 'D', then every so ofetn, the 'D' turns into a red devil, whose hand holds the MTV logo, and a caption pops out. I'm not sure if idents and animations have changed, as i haven't seen any yet.
And while on the subject of MTV/VH1 - TMF have changed the graphic with the song title and artist. It now appears at the top instead of the bottom. Bit big mind you.
TMF has new song titles during the Saturday afternoon 'Message Factory' only.
MTV Dance has some new idents and a new DOG, but like VH1 the song titles havn't changed. The music on MTV Dance is still not even remotely dance music, however MTV Dance has one good point - no adverts at all from 6am-6pm, just back to back videos. Now, if only they played dance...
