I have been waiting for them to do this for a long time, I can imagine a HD port coming soon and VH1 originals (such as Drag Race, America’s Next Top Model and their catalog of reality TV) being moved there. It seems to be the less sleazy version of current MTV. Actually looking forward to it.

Completely agree. This is a very sensible move to bring it in line with the direction that the US channel has taken. This first schedule is very poor, but it I'm sure it'll develop over time.

Be nice to have a bit more of a grown up music channel.

There are still the likes of Vintage TV, Keep It Country and MTV Classic

But at least Hitler is history. Pawn brokers are not.

Though they usually deal with antiques, vintage, and retro items, don't they?

Unless most/all of the "entertainment channel" stuff (i.e. programmes) on the restyled 4Music are music-related, ought it not be renamed? Any periods of the day where it does still actually sodding well show music videos could still use "4Music" as a strand name, with the actual station being called something else.

Mind you, with everything from The Horror Channel to many of UKTV's stations (e.g. Drama, Yesterday, etc) showing plenty of content that doesn't particularly fit the station name, it seems that multichannel-era stations' names increasingly don't care about correlation to their actual content.

I might launch a channel that shows nothing but 1950s sci-fi B-movies, and call the channel "Live Sports"... Rolling Eyes

I wouldn’t say it warrants a name change, yes it’s showing entertainment for the majority, but they’re showing music from start up until 5:30pm (possibly 4pm of music is removed from ‘Trending Live’) with a block of shows from 12-2, and then Saturdays will stay mostly music with a block of ‘Charmed’ in the afternoon.

4M (pronounced form) might be good? sounds youth-y...

That's initially what happened with MTV, but they ended up showing more and more entertainment, and ended up with hardly any music, after which they dropped the "Music Television" brand. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happens to 4Music at some point.

Out of those only Vintage is on Virgin, sadly.

Bit of a difference between cheap non-stop music videos and decently-produced intelligent content.

I remember the old VH-1 and they also played "cheap non-stop music videos" among the lesser watched worthy content.
