well the following week we get LWT! - play your cards right
Well said there, it'll (almost certainly) be the 1978 to mid 80s London Weekend Television "river" ident which split into the letters L W T. Remember its jingle ...
Lin-ga lon-ga lin-ga lon-ga dadada-daa dum dadadada dum dum
Saturday 28 April - The Golden Shot - ATV "In Colour" (early 1970s - 31 Dec 1981)
Pee wah wah bong-bong-bung tong ting tung sha-she-ahh
Saturday 5 May - Name That Tune - Thames skyline (1970s/80s)
Gowng gowng geeng-er horng ut a norng

I like the way you call the wheel used in "Melody Roulette" a "slightly hypnotic spinning wheel". Why are you calling it "slightly hypnotic"? Is it because of the sound it makes when spinning? ...
Wa-naan wa-naan wa-naan etc.
The sound, yes and the pattern combined with the 2 wheels going in opposite ways.
The latter feature is the 1980's version of the CNBC tickertape
Well it's Saturday again, so tonight's the night for this week's edition of Vernon Kay's Gameshow Marathon - programme 6 of 8.
This week's classic gameshow is Mr. & Mrs. It's on ITV1 (I1) from 18:40 to 19:45 this evening. Hopefully we'll get the Border Television ident as used in the 70s and 80s at the start of part 2. Snag is that's a static, silent caption though, no jingle for me to write a written version of.
Perfectly timed for me, Gameshow Marathon finishes at 19:45, giving me 15 minutes grace to turn over to BBC1 (B1) for the Eurovision Song Contest which starts at 20:00.
Well this week's Gameshow Marathon is underway. It's the first commercial break, so Mr. and Mrs will start shortly.
Whats the betting on which ident we'll get in a mo? Border or HTV?
Remember Border and HTV took it in turns to make Mr. and Mrs. Judging by the way they've mentioned Derek Batey, I bet it'll be Border.
