Now for Golden Medley.

When Name That Tune was part of London Night Out , only ONE played Golden Medley.

In Lionel's days I don't remember both players playing Golden Medley, I thought only one (the winner) played it.

Now for Big Prize Tune .

That began when Name That Tune became a standalone programme in 1983. I don't remember you having a choice of envelope then though.

No I'm most definitely not. What made wonder that?

Was I the only person in the UK watching Gameshow Marathon tonight? I seem to have submitted almost all the posts here the past hour.

Another great show tonight. Never watched Name That Tune first time round as it ended a year before I was born. Can't wait till Mr and Mrs next week.

Well they would schedule it against Doctor Who, wouldn't they? Anyone know when it's on ITV2?

Just to be picky, Name That Tune was going before 1983.

It started life as part of the Thames TV show London Night Out , which lasted an hour. Name That Tune was part 2 (the middle part) of the 3-part show.

London Night Out was axed, does anyone know why? In autumn 1983 Name That Tune became a programme of its own, to fill a 30-minute slot (though in reality it was shorter due to its commercial break in the middle), hence it was longer than the middle bit of London Night Out. Consequently the standalone version had more rounds, e.g. Sing A Note, than the London Night Out version.

I think you might find that Name That Tune started out on Wednesday at Eight with Tom O'connor which was later renamed London Night Out

I suspect Mr & Mrs will fall victim to the same as Take Your Pick in the last series. A very weak format (couples answering questions about each other). Also the show will have five couples instead the usuall three.

I watched it too, don't worry Laughing Inspired having Naaaawdaaaay conducting the orchestra, with Mylene Klass tinkling on the ivories (hope she wipes up after herself). And of course the ritual embarasment of soap stars trying to play musical instruments.

I hope you're not after Big Vern's job, because he's rather good at it IMO-- certainly grown on me!

I like Noddy but I think he was rather pointless tonight. Was he really conducting? I don't know though, having not watched the original Name That Tune, maybe the conductor is some kind of mascot...(?)

A good show all the same.

The Golden Medley certainly did have two people playing during its ITV run, it was the only round that decided who'd face the Big Prize Tune, the other rounds being played for prizes. Or at least that's what the Tom 'O Connor episodes on Challenge in the last few years suggested at any rate.
