The gameboard wasn't stretched, they added a few blue 'half tiles' to the left and right sides.

Oh dear, who said that the game board in the main show was stretched...?

I love the version of the music they used, much better than the well known version. One thing about this 'ressurection' is that they used the Family Fortunes 'prize' sound. Why couldn't they have just made a buzzer to sound more like the other noises they use on the show like the contestants buzzers for instance.

ISTR the 'prize' sound was used in the original series as the sound for the "School prize".

InventThamesValley posted:
The titles were stretched but the last few frames were redone in widescreen so that the Blockbusters title wasn't stretched.

If you re-examine the titles, the Blockbusters title "cut" was zoomed rather than "redone" (notice that lovely soft logo & set). I've noticed (off-topic...) that F1 now produce 16:9 & as a consequence because no-one produces 16:9 camera so small that the on-board cameras are now presented in our old favourite the zoom & crop... lovely soft cars looking all light & fluffy... nice image...

When 'Blockbusters' began in September 1983, the Central logo that preceded the programme (and the endcap that followed it for that matter) was the original 'eclipse' logo, not the one shown last evening.

('Blockbusters' began the same week as the first series of 'Auf Weidersehen, Pet', again it had the original Central logo.)

Nice to see Wendy Richard playing the role of Pauline throughout the show. Sad Laughing

I heard when she left EE she had lots of other work stacked up. Hmm. I know she's going to be playing a Miss Brahms style role in a new sitcom soon.

The set tonight looks the same as it did all those years ago, cheap and nasty. Laughing

Just seen the opening sequence to this week's Gameshow Marathon, and saw one panelist bend (and snap) the thin microphone. A flashback to when Kenny Everett bent the microphone in the days when Terry Wogan hosted the show on BBC1.

I see they've chosen to ignore their own era of the show, the Lilly Savage years.

That Paul O'Grady vendetta continuing ?

Well after all the predictions, I noticed there was NO VINTAGE IDENT at the start of part 2 tonight. No BBC1 globe, no mirror skyline (70s/80s style) Thames ident.

Did he really win (for the prize fund) the 50, 100 and 150 blanks prizes for getting 150 blanks? In the era of Terry Wogan and Les Dawson on BBC1, you only got ONE prize, e.g. if you got 150 blanks on Supermatch you only got the 150 blanks prize.
