I wondered that - but perhaps showing the episodes out of sequence would have caused a problem if there was a continuing sub-plot.

We understand why Vera was substituted and we would have enjoyed a Lewis episode. My wife and I are both deaf and all previous Lewis programmes have been subtitled. Unfortunately this one wasn't for some reason. So needless to say we were rather disappointed and dismayed at the programme change.

Looks like they ended up out of sequence in the end anyway. Ep4 went out as normal on 20th May and Ep3 last night.

It might have been that there wasn't anytime to check if it would cause any continuity issues so decided to replace it with something else.
