Why is it so difficult to get the microphone moved? Surely any presenter wants to sound his or her best. Shouldn't News24 insist that Matthew Amroliwala moves his mic further up his lapel so that we hear less background noise and more of him?
I totally agree. I printed this thread today and showed it to the sound engineers at my work. They said they would get their ass kicked if they let that happen more than once.

Hi Alex
I think it's a problem with some of the staff on the channel. Some of them have cloth earshttp://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/shocked.gif And would you believe some of them spend the whole time browsing through TV Forum rather than mixing the sound properly

LOL - I've been told about N24 presenters browsing the forum while on air! The director in the gallery is able to see what the presenter is looking at on the net by using the birds-eye camera used for the newspaper review
I think that the BBC Four set has been installed in the BBC World Newsroom, so that the same cameras, gallery etc can be used.
BBC World Graphics - have been moved out of the newsroom, and the space they used to occupy made available for extra set space... (BBC World graphics used to be just to the left of the Sport Today set as you looked down the newsroom)

Whoever mixed 1600 must have been way too busy! Wrong mic for 10 seconds, and a vamp instead of a VT popping up

So the news studio is right next door to Sport Today, so is it the space, where the old 'The World Today' studio used to broadcast from?
