They cant extend GMTV by as from 9.25am onwards is ITV's airtime not GMTV's.
I really think its unlikely that ITV will show Shortland Street - they didnt want it in 2002 when Carlton dropped it so I doubt they want it now.
As ITV actually co-own GMTV I am sure that both stations would come to some sort of amicable agreement and it would be more ideal for the 930 switch-over.
With reagards to Shortland Street it wasn't actually Carlton that dropped it - GMG companies dropped it first, followed by Carlton but as ITV is a completely new entity with new people and a new MD (from 1st January) anything is now possible. The old guard has now gone so anything could happen such as its return - especially if they give it a decent time slot
