They cant extend GMTV by as from 9.25am onwards is ITV's airtime not GMTV's.

I really think its unlikely that ITV will show Shortland Street - they didnt want it in 2002 when Carlton dropped it so I doubt they want it now.

As ITV actually co-own GMTV I am sure that both stations would come to some sort of amicable agreement and it would be more ideal for the 930 switch-over.

With reagards to Shortland Street it wasn't actually Carlton that dropped it - GMG companies dropped it first, followed by Carlton but as ITV is a completely new entity with new people and a new MD (from 1st January) anything is now possible. The old guard has now gone so anything could happen such as its return - especially if they give it a decent time slot

I know GMG dropped it but Carlton tried to "network" it in their regions (HTV, Central, Westcountry and Carlton-London) showing the same episodes in each region when previously only HTV and Central had shown it and HTV were showing episodes Central had shown years earlier. It got poor viewing figures so Carlton dropped it and that did nothing to encourage ITV to show it on the network.

If anything enough time has now passed since it was last shown and ITV could easily pick it up on more recent New Zealand episodes (like they do with Coronation Street, The BIll etc...).

The Carlton experiment WAS badly flawed due to the fact that the old regions were showing different episodes and then along comes Carlton and stars networking it along the same episodes as Carlton-Central - too many viewers in HTV land this was about 3 or 4 years ahead of them hence they switched off. This is also basically the same reason as to why GMG dropped it because each region were showing different episodes from different years of the show.

It was 2 1/2 years that HTV skipped - we were at September 1998 and Carlton-Central were at April 2001 when the changes happened. I was annoyed that they missed out so many episodes and was just getting used to it when it was axed again!

But wasnt there a special episode made detailing the two and a hlaf years that HTV viewers missed? Im sure that blond doctor told 'the story' of where people went and how new people arrived at the hospital?

Whatever happened to Waverley?

Vaneesa's real lives is similar to chat show she did for itv in the 90s, apparently

The chat show she did was like Trisha and Jeremy Kyle - infact Trisha replaced her. This show looks different.

Not quite. For one thing the original Vanessa was half-hour, a few times a week, and more light-hearted in its approach. Then in 1998, Vanessa expanded to 60 minutes and moved to the morning slot. Vanessa only completed a handful of hour-long shows before quitting, mystery surrounds exactly why she left.

Trisha was more like the old Vanessa when it began, but over time progressed more towards the chav slanging matches now being presided over by Mr Kyle (didn't Trisha quit because she wanted more control?)

No. There was a special episode made and I still have that special on video. They just showed clips of upcoming episodes, nothing about what happened to past storylines and characters from the episodes HTV were getting, as this was also shown on Central, Westcountry and London as well. It was put together in NZ and presented by the actors who played Dr Chris Warner and Rachel McKenna.

I liked Waverly, she ended up getting married to Nick in the end I think and Jenny came back for the wedding, but we never got as far as that episode in the UK. Rachel was always my favourate chracter though.

How about this for a schedule?

0925 - Get a job, you lazy dossers.
1030 - Why are you still watching? Go and get a job!
1230 - You boring, tedious dullards

I'm sure the present schedule does much more of a better job than that mock schedule of yours as that does look very interesting and very watchable! Laughing

I like Vanessa, I really do. She needs something to do. Other than this she only ever seems to be on Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity spin-offs.

She has a 3 hours a day, 5-days a week radio programme It's actually quite good too!
