After the Olympics, there is a big sport competitions for the disabled peoples at the same places as Olympic games, called Paralympics. Although Paralympic games gets less attentions than the Olympics, I believe the athletes will do their best as much as they prepared for the last four years.

Will there be a plentiful of coverages this year? And how the BBC (UK), CTV (Canada), NBC (US) and others are going to deal with all these games?

And, What will be the best moment of the games, from March 12 to 21 (local time)? So, if you have something to share, do join here.

BBC's coverage stretches as far as a few curling matches on the red button and an hour or so of highlights once the games are over. They're not even covering the ceremonies. Eurosport not covering the ceremonies either, but do seem to have skiing most days.

CTV are showing 50 hours of coverage across their bouquet of channels in Canada. ABC in Australia is screening a daily highlights show, while you're as likely to see the Paralympics on NBC as you are Conan O'Brien.

SVT in Sweden seem to have a daily 30 minute programme whilst NRK in Norway are giving it quite a few hours of coverage each night on NRK2.

BBC criticised for scant coverage of Winter Paralympics

TV coverage restricted to single highlights show, with possible extras on red button, due to 'budget restrictions and time zone'

The BBC has been criticised for scheduling just one hour of TV highlights of the Vancouver Winter Paralympics, despite dedicating 160 broadcast hours to the Winter Olympics on BBC2.

Lewis Wiltshire, the editor of the BBC Sport website, said TV coverage was restricted because of "budget restrictions and the time zone factor".

^ One of the comments under that MediaGuardian article says that NBC will be showing highlights after all. There'll be a one hour opening ceremony recap and a two hour highlights of the entire Paralympics in April. So even NBC will be giving better coverage than the BBC!

I wonder if C4 getting the London 2012 Paralympic games rights will see the BBC less inclined to cover disability sport in as great a depth as previously ?

Good grief, just watching the opening ceremony from yesterday on www.paralympicsport.tv and I don't think I've ever seen the welcoming of athletes dragged on for so long. Each country seems to be given about a minute before the next one is announced. It's taking ages! Thank god you can skip forward.

Also they've got these people mic-ed up encourage the crowd to cheer at everything and anything during the welcoming. "Make some noise for the Islamic Republic of Iran!" sounds a tad ridiculous.

In Korea (that's my home country), SBS (who sparked controversy over Olympic broadcasting rights with KBS and MBC) aired opening ceremonies live, and will show highlights at day time until 4 PM (GMT + 9) everyday. They will also broadcast closing ceremonies live.

For the opening ceremonies, some "extreme" fans of mascots might feel some-"this-is-not-fair"-thing because Sumi was seen on the ceremonies when Quatchi and Miga were on none of the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies.

And, I saw Lloyd Robertson on one segment. I was so surprised, because, I recognised him before. (he's a CTV National News presenter) I believe if CBC was still covering Olympics, Peter Mansbridge would host that part.

Well... If nobody "literally" cares about disabled people, then there is no such game.
