At present I've heard 3 different variations of the new jingle. I managed to get two of them without voiceovers but the other was ruined by Robin Taylor last night!

Ident 1: Normal

Ident 2: Faster Paced (with anno)

Ident 3: Slow (Pre-News) Version

I can't say anything, I'm yawning too much.

Have these new Jingles got anything to do with a New radio station soon to be launched?

Well, its a new arrangement of the traditional UTV Jingle, which was used from 1993 to 2002 (and made the odd re-appearance on Watch to Win or Christmas idents since). Its really the end notes of a longer piece used on their 1993 relaunch ident. Quite a nice arrangement too, regular UTV viewers will know that some of the arrangements inflicted on us in the past (I'm taliking the "Musician" idents here) have been absolutely diobolical.

But perhaps... will UTV really inflict it on the ILR listeners of Belfast?

Noooooooooooo! It's keyboard quality! Awful! Awful! Awful! And we thought the lollipop music couldn't be beaten for crapness...

Dire.

As for the radio thing, Downtown/Cool and possibly Citybeat may be worried, but I can't see that Radio Ulster is exactly petrified by this coming station.

As for the jukebox promotion .... £105 as a prize, in 2005? Come on!

I saw that in the local paper. I guess they can't do "Watch to Win" on the radio so it's "Listen and Win" instead.

Those interested will be relieved to know that the ILR listeners won't be inflicted by any pain by cheesy casio's as the jingles etc. have been produced by Music4

Although I have to say, the U105 ad campaign is quite clever and well put together. Tried to spot on the Airport Road yesterday if they actually had vandalised some of the road signs that appear in the ads but sadly not.

To think they've cancelled Kelly, School Around the Corner AND School Choir for this... Smile

So that's what they're for!! I've been wondering for about a week now! I've seen the adverts a few times and I must admit they are very good! I even saw a double sized billboard on the way into Belfast this morning with the Carrickfergus sign on it (minus the U of course!)

Faux orchestral! Glorious.

The horror. Let’s hope Sean Casio gets his royalties for this abomination of a ditty. Still better than some of the attempts from way back yon.
