I stand corrected.
At least two transmission faults so far this week that I've seen.
And why does Gillian rarely present the weather in-vision? And come to think of it, have Aidan or Audra ever presented a forecast in-vision?
On the other hand, BBC Newsline's Rose Neill (she used to be on UTV so it's relevant) is looking great these days!

More genius opting-out on Saturday night; in the middle of the Nokia sponsor sting at the end of the first X Factor, UTV ran its pre-recorded RoI numbers slide - with the wrong audio, the number to dial to vote for Phillip was correct on the slide, but Julian gave the wrong number.
Oh well, at least next week they need to record a new one...

That's except for 1030 when we had an ITV Day ident instead.
Incidentally, U105.8 is now on air with a test transmission... every other item is out of phase. The test does contain a spoof announcement from Don Anderson (who has been a senior figure in local broadcasting for many years, though mostly behind the scenes).

I see the UTV Casio keyboard has been dusted down and used to provide a new accompaniment to their postcard idents.
They're so pleased with their achievement that they've junked their two "UTV Day" symbols today to celebrate.

Surely not... the return of the UTV Jingle??? Must check out when I get home...
Not exactly! But still, it's better than nothing!!
EDIT: Just listened again and it actually is the UTV Jingle! It didn't seem to be the first time I heard it!
Anyone else noticed that they're using a lot of the older idents tonight?

Wasn't he a Downtown programme controller ? In fact he may have made the IBA announcements on 96 and 1025 back in '75-'76 - that would make sence as the "oh,em, that was the last century" comments are then obviously a dig at Downtown. Oddly he was also involved in a rival bid for the U105 license wasn't he ?

Don Anderson was a BBC reporter (and I think worked for National News for a while), he was Head of Programmes at Downtown and indeed BBC Radio Ulster. He then moved to the IBA/ITC. And a very nice man he is too. He was involved in another bid for the Belfast license (Live105 I think) but the world of broadcasting here in NI is a small one...

The UTV jingle has returned - although with a bit of a twist, the final two notes of the old jingle are now part of a three-note arrangement:
Before: Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-dooooo
Now: Doo-doo-doo (gap), doo-doo-doo (gap), doo-doo-doo...
And yet again, more opting out too early last night from a networked sponsored sting. And funny that UTV Day idents have been ditched only for a clean ITV Day next/later slide to turn up after the news at c.1330...

At present I've heard 3 different variations of the new jingle. I managed to get two of them without voiceovers but the other was ruined by Robin Taylor last night!
Ident 1: Normal
Ident 2: Faster Paced (with anno)
Ident 3: Slow (Pre-News) Version
EDIT:
Ident 4: Faster Paced (Same as 2 but without anno)
