I agree with that. Although overall they have incorporated the old and new well, there is far too much branding. Still, at least they have made a very nice effort.

I don't think the old and new idents together look that bad, it's just the current UTV logo which looks very out of place, as well as the cheesy slogan, "It's all about U".

Managed to get clean versions of all the UTV Rewind idents so here they are to enjoy in their anno free glory!
Ulster Television Ident (1959 - 1969)
25th Anniversary Ulster Television Ident (1980 - 1988)
Ulster Television Ident (1988 - 1993)
UTV Ident (1993 - 1996)

Oops, got that from the old TV Room site. It says the ident was used for the 25th Anniversary, whereas Wikipedia says 21st Anniversary.
For once, Wikipedia is right. Then again, it was all adapted from an old website about UTV...

The "telly on a stick"/lollipop was launched in 1980, not 1984.

The "lollypop on a stick" was first shown on their 21st birthday on 31 October 1980, when they had a celebration at the Grand Opera House in Belfast with Gordon Burns and Gloria Hunniford presenting it, and various local entertainers performing.
That version of the logo then wasn't shown again until 1981 when it was used preceding their series 'Golfing Greats', which also included the logo on a golf ball at the start of the programme's opening titles. That programme was shown on many of ITV's regions, though not networked, and was unusual as it ended with a copyright and year marker.
They then started to use it before most imported series and some local programmes in 1982, but a lot of local programmes continued to be preceded with the still caption until as late as 1987 or so.

I really love UTV's first ever ident, I dunno why but the music is sweet in a strange way (Its rare I say that)
Is the friday rewind thing likely to be online at all? I know the ITV plc regions are starting to offer bits and pieces for online viewing, not sure if UTV do the same anywhere. Don't have sky else I'd watch it and as far as I know I'm unable to get other ITV regions on Virgin Media.

Just thinking re: with UTV Live at Half Five on holidays at the moment, what are the presenters and reporters involved up to while the show is off-air?
I assume that Frank, and possibly Alison, are doing the weather during the main programme each evening, and that Frank's still doing the radio in the morning, but what about the rest of the crew?
