Edit - Just this second they sent the 16:9 signal Sad

That's a good thing surely? That meant they were correcting their initial error.

Good and bad from my point of view, at the beginning I thought they might of realised people rather not things stretched and decided to make Julian look thiner Laughing

But all the video had been made 16:9 from the start so its good they realised the problem.

I know the network promos have started for the Rugby World Cup but UTV have gone one step further and made their own, with the strapline It's all about rUgby - every Ireland game LIVE

I wonder if there'll be dedicated UTV coverage of Ireland's games as the 2003 tournament. Logie covered the games but I'd like to see Claire McCollum present the coverage myself, perhaps get Graham Little involved rather than let him waste his poor career away as Frankie's Number Two...

Any word on STV or HTV Wales (sic) doing the same for Scotland and Wales matches?

Oh by the way, just while I remember, if anyone here has been keeping up to date with Ultimate Ulster and UTV Rewind on my YouTube channel there may be a slight delay in uploading them next week. I'm moving house on Tuesday and I'm not sure how soon they're going to be able to come out and install the broadband after I move in. It'll hopefully not be too long so I'll upload them as soon as I'm back online!

Not a problem, better late than never.

Both shows were great this week, btw.

I think we have an answer for that...

UTV Sport will bring you live and exclusive coverage of every Ireland game as we follow Eddie O’Sullivan’s men to France to see if they can really lift that trophy. With 29 matches live on UTV, Sports Editor Adrian Logan will present UTV’s Rugby World Cup with former rugby hero David Humphreys and UTV’s Nigel Carr providing expert analysis of Ireland’s performance at each game. Neil Brittain will be travelling with the Ireland team to send back live reports for our viewers from the Ireland camp. With six weeks of first class sporting action, starting on Friday 7 September with France v Argentina, UTV will be on the spot throughout the tournament with the very latest news, gossip and much more. The Rugby World Cup at home on UTV this autumn.

Yes they've mentioned that a few times recently but I'm not sure how they're going to implement it without screwing up the rest of the schedule. Surely they then wouldn't be able to show any networked programmes that were starting at 11pm?

They could show network programmes on a delay. STV done that quite a few times at Christmas.

There'll be a fierce 3-way battle for viewers for Ireland games this time as Setanta, UTV, and TV3 are all showing the games. A lot of people who would have watched RTÉ by default won't necessary do the same with TV3, on account of the fact that with no real standing sports department like the other big broadcasters have, they've never really been able to pull off any sort of sports coverage convincingly.

Its' a pity to be deprived of Hook and Pope though!!!!
