The only night she used to work was a Thursday and for the past few months Aidan and Robin have been sharing the Thursday night slot. It's been that long since I last heard her that I actually can't even remember when it was (possibly around the election time in March).

Perhaps she's had a baby and she's on maternity leave... I thought Gillian had left UTV in 2001 when she hadn't appeared on screen for a few months, but she came back and showed off her baby that Christmas Day.
Surprised UTV haven't got anyone to provide relief cover... there's plenty of people out there who would love the chance to do some continuity announcing on UTV.
For those of you you haven't read the comment I posted on YouTube, we have a new announcer on duty tonight, Sarah Dobson, who occasionally reads the late news on UTV. Now she's not bad at reading the news but I think she speaks far too fast when shes doing announcements! I've uploaded some clips from tonight to show you. The first one isn't too bad but the second and third are worse!
I never thought there would be a *new* continuity announcer at UTV ever again. Mind you, she sounds like the erstwhile Audra Thomas so I can imagine few people would notice the difference.
Did she get any training to be a continuity announcer from anyone in the Presentation department or was she picked at random from those inside the UTV Group? I don't remember seeing the vacancy of continuity announcer on the UTV plc website - even if I missed it, I'm sure someone would have mentioned it here or the likes.
I bet TPTB at Havelock House are pleased though to realise that using a U105 newsreader means they didn't have to pay extra to recruit someone externally. I'm more surprised they've not pulled Frank or Pamela away from UTV Live to do relief cover.
Even if there are some of us out there would really like the opportunity to at least apply for a vacancy as a continuity announcer. Some of us don't have secondary jobs which restrict the number of potential shifts, including daytime hours. Sometimes it's easy to find those people if you look in the right places.

There was an issue a while back about how U105 were asking for UTV presenters to host shows and not paying them any more, so I think that could have something to do with it.
Another new name for UTV plc from October - only a year after the legal name change from Ulster Television plc to UTV plc, the name will change again to UTV Media plc!
This will be acomplished through a share swop with shareholders swapping their shares at 1 UTV Media share for each UTV share. UTV plc (which will probably become UTV Limited before too long) will then be a wholly owned subsidary of UTV Media plc and will most likely become solely responsible for operating the television business. This will avoid the current situation where UTV plc operates the television business, but all the other businesses are also subsidaries of it.
An EGM will be held in September to approve the plan.
