Is this the first new programme commission under ITV plc ownership?
Does View from Stormont count?
Nah, not really - just an extension of news output. And we must also keep in mind that they ditched the four-nights-a-week 'UTV Live Tonight' and replaced it with 'View from Stormont' - which airs on Mondays only.

My new @utv series ‘Eamonn Mallie: Face to Face with...’ starts Wednesday 3rd January at 10.45pm. Each week I will be will be talking one-to-one with some of the biggest names in the world of sport, music, acting and public life. Belfast boxer @RealCFrampton is my first guest... pic.twitter.com/SWio1Dt3zy
What's interesting here is that Eamonn's previous one-off Face-to-Face programme - the infamous one featuring Ian Paisley Snr - was broadcast on BBC NI.
He's actually already done this as a series for BBC NI, in Irish. Beart is Briathar.
Ah yes, I had completely forgotten about that short series.
The cynic in me says ITV has grabbed this format as production costs for this programme will be relatively low BUT with the right interviewees, it could fare well ratings-wise. A nice combination. Rather a late slot though.
We're currently being treated to ITV Nightscreen which is displaying programme information for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?! It was the same last night - and presumably for a number of nights prior to that. It does also include some up-to-date programme synopsis pages.
The 2018 promo was played again before The Chase and it ends with “...on ITV” with the ITV logo. Bit odd they aren’t being more strict on the UTV version being shown on the channel.

Was it embedded within advertisements though - as opposed to the more conventional placement of programme trails, prior to and after advertisements?

Yes - I've seen it now when it's within the break and it's branded ITV, as opposed to when it's shown as part of presentation it's UTV.
