So Julian's still doing his "Noy on the YooTeeVee" announcements then?
And as Andrew said, he was in vision on Christmas Day

Think you’re right!
Very interesting to see them do proper IVC on Christmas Day - did they do this last year? The Santa updates being in breaks (and last year I think they either preceded or followed an ident) meant that they weren't actually continuity for shows, so nice to see IVC again!

Yep, I believe that's the trail that previously had the ITV branding on UTV. The key difference now is that the trail is being played outside of the advertisement block, rather than within it, as it had been previously.
It was nice to see some in-vision continuity back on UTV on Christmas Day (as well as the Christmas Eve Santa Flashes). I'll be the first to admit that there's a certain cringe factor with Julian but the lack of IVC has made UTV feel a bit anonymous and lacking in personality. There's nothing particularly "out-of-date" about the execution of that in-vision link (well, other than Julian's style). I'm sure the lack of IVC has not adversely impacted ratings but I wonder would, say, 1 or 2 pre-recorded in-vision continuity links per day (in peak time) be that much hassle?
With the channel looking so much like ITV these days - and needless to say, looking a lot more professional than it did pre-October 2016 - the potential long-term use of the UTV brand doesn't particularly bother me (though I'm still curious about what will happen when they move building). But I wonder how long it will be before our friends in Wales start to push for the reinstatement of the HTV brand, or Wales-specific branding of some sort.

I wonder if we shall Julian donning his dickie bow for New Year's Eve too. Fingers crossed!

I wonder how that would work in practice in terms of timings? Ident durations are usually pretty flexible so they can be used to get timings back on track if they are a few seconds out. Pre-recorded IVC would be pretty fixed duration whereas a pre-recorded announcement can be played over a longer ident.

I was told a while back that ITV schedules are planned and executed with military precision. The precise timings are agreed well in advance. One of the insiders on here may be able to clarify precisely how far in advance. I think, for example, Julian and Gillian's pre-recorded announcements are recorded the day before transmission - but I'm sure someone on here may be able to confirm whether or not that is correct.

Things may have changed, but I think on that behind the scenes video with Julian there was mention of phoning the Leeds playout centre to get the exact timings during the evening.

Is this the first new programme commission under ITV plc ownership?
What's interesting here is that Eamonn's previous one-off Face-to-Face programme - the infamous one featuring Ian Paisley Snr - was broadcast on BBC NI.
My new @utv series ‘Eamonn Mallie: Face to Face with...’ starts Wednesday 3rd January at 10.45pm. Each week I will be will be talking one-to-one with some of the biggest names in the world of sport, music, acting and public life.
