Probably a pre-recorded announcement played in error or do they do live continuity still?
UTV is pre-recorded. If they had to do it live it would come from Chiswick (which is unlikely...) They just needed to write/record a generic version without the presenters.
It is all pre recorded which works all well and good until a programme breaks down like The Nightly Show recently( where there was just silence over a breakdown caption) ,or a serious news story has occurred and there is no reference to it or the schedule change just a cheery Gillian introduction.
Surely it's not beyond the wit of Chiswick/Leeds to be able to have a UTV branded breakdown caption and network audio, with a standing instruction to announcers not to mention ITV during a breakdown if necessary?

Heh. Leeds have a long and illustrious history of handling exceptions well.
What would have occurred if there was a breakdown during This Morning, before UTV was part of ITV?
They would've played a loop of that glass UTV logo sequence - and silence. I have some examples in my archive. Generally, there was no live continuity until 6pm each evening and there were no pre-recorded programme introductions either - just pre-recorded end credit voiceovers. Very occasionally - where a compliance announcement was required for a daytime programme, they'd get someone in from the newsroom. I think I may even recall one random live announcement by Frank Mitchell at some point last year.
Drove past the new utv or in my opinion itv hq the other day looking well good location and I also read somewhere on here I think that itv have applied for permission for a satalite dish on the roof obviously they need one but also have new signage as well so could utv be no more after the move I wonder itv ni seems to be on the agenda any thoughts welcome

The plans for the new City Quays building are to have the UTV logo on each elevation so it looks like the UTV name is here to stay for the foreseeable future...
