Surely OFCOM wouldn't be interested? Nobody has been duped, other than perhaps the advertiser
People would see the ad, look up where their nearest store is, and it turns out to be in England? Sure looks like false advertising to me. You would expect at least one branch to be in that region, otherwise, the advert shouldn't be used there.
You don't have to lose out financially to feel conned. People there could've wanted to buy something they saw advertised but couldn't. If someone has actually been ripped off, that goes beyond Ofcom and into Trading Standards territory.

There's a ton of adverts that viewers in NI will see on digital channels and won't have any relevance to them. ITV will have advertised a national sponsorship slot and it just so happens that Furniture Village was the one who wanted to buy it.
The amount of inconvenience this will cause to viewers is so minimal, I really wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure there's plenty of people in the rest of the country who are several hours away from their nearest branch.
Hmm, I would say there would be a good argument for a "Not available in UTV area" disclaimer, or else it could be considered in breach of the Trades Descriptions Act (or whatever it's called now).
The law relating to it is more designed for somewhere like Tesco advertising a product which is not available in all stores ("in selected stores/not available in NI"), but I'm not sure if would apply when the store itself doesn't have any branches.
Is no different than people watching adverts in the Scottish islands for a national chain, who might have one store in Glasgow, several hours and a boat/plane ride away.

And not in the same region either - Glasgow is Scottish and the islands Grampian, aren't they?
I don't understand why they are holding back on the whole rebrand to itv thing with utv we all know that's what itv want to do. I live in Belfast and to be honest I really don't care as long as we get the same programmes itv all the way utv had a good run but they are clinging to itv's coat tails now
And on the advertising thing I don't get the whole adverts for shops not in NI well in saying that Asda advertised here for years before they branched out here so who know what a companies thinking
