UTV rebrand

New look to bring it in line with ITV (October 2016)

There were no announcements all daytime yesterday either, just as before the refresh. Monday, it would seem, was a one off to have annos all day.


Thing is, UTV did generally have announcements, on ECPs (and also had intermittent prerecorded announcements before some programmes). So this, along with the absence of ECPs themselves, is a step back.


The lack of ECPs, the clean idents, etc surely can't have been ITV's intention. Either this is a (relatively) short term transition period before an 'ITV' rebrand or something hasn't gone to plan.

By the way, who provided the recorded announcements on Tuesday and Wednesday evening?

Why do I get the feeling this is what will do for UTV viewers until Julian and Gillian are "retired"?

The positive early signs Monday brought in are unravelling fast for me now.

That's interesting. I'd have imagined it'd just be an ITV one without the 'Granada' legend. It'd be nice to have such idents back for regional junctions (admittedly, only news these days).

Regional ITV identity has just been a pesky incumberance to the greater good of a 'national (UK) Channel 3' for many years. Wink

No, not an ident, a "screensaver" like the UTV example. Appears when an opt out fails. Here's a photo I took of it a while back

Oh sorry, I misread your post, I thought you were saying it was nice they'd brought back the regional idents, when they haven't (misread "It'd be nice" as "It's nice")

That'll be a feed identifier when no feed is present I suspect.

Presumably, subregions are labelled differently then: i.e. Central (East).

The voice over levels are dreadful. Gillian was little more than a mumble over the Emmerdale end credits.

The whole thing just screams of being tossed together at minimal cost. This has to be a short term relaunch-it wouldn't surprise me if the Christmas package was ITV branded with UTV voiceover in December.
