I'm still trying to figure out how the new London based Northern Irish announcers fit in to this.
Maybe they will be used to record the VOs for UTV branded trailers. Are these still being recorded by someone in Belfast at the moment?
There will be cases of last minute programme changes when Gillian or Julian aren't on hand to pre-record new announcements. That doesn't mean the London-based NI voices will be on hand either, but there may be a chance they are on shift or in the building.
We would be likely to get the duty ITV announcer in cases like these I suspect, so maybe there's a 1 in 4 chance he/she will be Northern Irish!!
Still John Kearns voicing the promos.
I doubt they've been hired to allow for a 1 in 4 chance of providing UTV with a local sounding voice in case of schedule change.
I imagine that the medium term plan is that Julian and Gillian will go.
Didn't take long for folks to start moaning about the glorious new ITV dawn.
I wouldn't call it an ITV dawn. It's more an ITV/UTV hybrid dawn.
There's nothing dawning for the UTV side. With a quarter of the workforce sacked off, more to come, and one of ITV's henchman installed as the head of the last remaining functioning creative department, this is very much a dusk... you guys just haven't worked that out yet.

It's the dawn of an era of consistent and professional presentation, and hopefully a more efficient regional operation.

Eh? No I'm very aware it is the beginning of the end..... I've said it many times on here.... and eventually it will be the dusk of ITV when a big American company comes to gobble it up

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if TV3's owners get ITV in a few years which would reunite the two UTV channels.
