UTV rebrand

I think the lighting and desk look worse than the black panels. The view/ framing of Cardiff Bay looked alot nicer during the 2004/5 style set.

Since their in a New Studio. I don't think ITV PLC cares about the Announcements being invision or not.

I doubt IVC will be back, ITV wants to bring UTV in line with their presentation style as much as they can. If UTV was not a Northern Irish region, you can say for certain the name UTV would be gone and ITV enforced, however due to the political situation in Northern Ireland, and the name brand of UTV associated with it, ITV felt better to keep the name and change the presentation style to at least as close to ITV in general.

When IVC goes, it usually doesn't come back. Just sayin'.

Not true, what about Christmas? Every year UTV have IVC on Christmas Eve

Out of 365 days in the year, and ITV through UTV the crumb of allowing IVC for a few hours on Christmas Eve, doesn't give much hope to IVC fans in seeing it back for the other 364 days.

I 100% agree I think IVC made UTV stand out, considering every other channel dropped IVC.

What I don’t understand is why, almost two years since UTV playout moved to Chiswick, there are no ECPs on the Belfast feed, and no vocal apologies during breakdowns. I’m sure both of these are already technically possible, or could be made possible reasonably easily (switch to a dirty feed during breakdowns, for example). Is there still a brief glimpse of the ITV ident whenever a UTV ident is played? If they want UTV’s look to reflect ITV’s as closely as possible, you would expect more of an effort made in these areas of presentation.

And it was cringeworthinfly awful. There is a reason most regions dropped it 25 years ago.

That really is a matter of opinion. I recall the excitement, not just on here, but from the general public on Twitter and Facebook, when Julian reappeared in 2016 with Santa Flashes and the like. No harm in something nostalgic and a little bit different once a year.
