UTV Presentation Thread

British Gas is going through a rebrand, new logos on vans and in newspapers, surely news ads for TV soon?

Was just watching some of my UTV videos on YouTube and noticed something strange with one of the idents that was added way back at the end of January. For some reason, they've edited out part of the ident and it now only consists of two shots instead of four.

Yep, it was a promo for ITV Player which was adapted for UTV and was IIRC done by the same agency responsible for the British Gas campaign.

Probably due to the fact that there were too many picture cuts in the ident which increased the likelihood of cutting to a programme within a second or two of one of the shot changes in the ident, which looked very clumsy.

Christmas presentation has started this evening on UTV! Quite nice, bit of a snowy effect on the UTV logo and a sparkly swirly animation over the top of it. The ident scenes seem to be Christmas trees and lights in various towns and cities across Northern Ireland. I'll upload some caps and clips tomorrow!

New scenes or the same stuff from 2006/2007? Another early start from the team at HavHo.

Yeah, I agree, it puts network ITV1 to shame, when you compare the advert endboards.

EDIT: And even more so having seen the cheap edit to the ITV1 idents. ITV, hire UTV's pres designers next year please.

Not a bad effort at all - the effects on the trailers etc. even match up with the idents. Finally nice to see an ident filmed in County Tyrone too - and two of my old necks of the woods, Derry and Lurgan.

What's the IVC backdrop like?

From seeing the videos Stevie's uploaded on YouTube this evening, I've caught the only niggle I have with UTV's package this year - the sidebar on the IVC backdrop isn't animated; for some reason, its frozen appearance is slightly jarring.

Seems that Julian is back to Thursday to Sunday duties again... looks likely he'll be on Christmas Eve (so Santa Flashes again!) and Christmas Day.

I thought exactly the same thing. When I first saw it on Friday night I actually thought they'd just forgotten to start the animation but then realised that the left hand side of the backdrop was animating as normal. It really should move, just looks silly static!
